Three pickup basses rock, but three fat HBs might be kinda crowded. You could do three narrow HBs prolly.

Three singles are the bomb. I think my next bass will be a 3S.

I'm digging this bass, BTW. Sub'd.

+1 my next bass is going to use 3 guitar style humbuckers for a three pickup bass I'd go with only a 21 or 22 fret neck to get more tonal seperation.

Weight at this stage is 5 lbs 8 oz. Still to add are tuners, strap buttons, electronics, and strings, which will add an estimated three-quarters of a pound. More than that if I go active, but the plan right now is a simple three-way switch and master volume control. Maybe. I drilled for two side jacks, and will pursue a stereo wiring, which might mean two master volumes...

I went ahead and installed tuners and borrowed a nut from my stash, so I could tune it up and check relief. The string spacing is good...

... but it looks like I'll need to route a bit of angle into the neck pocket. With the bridge saddles all the way down and very little relief in the neck, the action is still too high:

One degree should do it.

Nice looking bass! REALLY nice!
It definitely has some of that BCRich sexieness

So, did you figure out what species the neck is?
What did it smell like whist you were shaping it?
Was it 'pitchy' at all?

Nope, not yet. I'm about as far from an expert as they come though. It doesn't really have a smell, and no pitch either. :(:woot::beaver: Maybe the otter knows?

It's hard to tell what the wood is because its color is different in a lot of the photos. I'd say no chance that it is paulownia. In most of the photos it is pinkish, mahogany look-alike. There are a lot of woods that look pretty close to mahogany or spanish cedar. Lauan (Philippine mahogany) is one of them, could be that, but really hard to get a definitive id among the choices.
