Line 6 HX Effects

Please let us know what your first impressions of the Moog Murf are if/when you can. Sucks being at work right now!!

Messed with it briefly. I doubt it will be something I use, but it sounded pretty trippy. Lots of parameters to adjust. I'm going to look into the Moog pedal to see what it's supposed to do/be, and then maybe dive in further later.

I take it to be a very in depth filter. I really just want a kick a$$ bass filter from it. But hope it’ll have a lot of other fun things you can do with it.

Also, how is the BDDI and Scrambler??

Messed with each briefly. Never used a Scrambler, but it sounded fine. I used to use a BDDI years ago, and was never a huge fan. The default settings on this has the bass maxed out, so it's super muddy from the get go. Hoping to play around with both later on, and see if they can replace or bring something new to my current patches.

Well I’m only about an hour and half away from the update. But I’d have to imagine that all the added effects are going to sound great if any of the previous models are indications. I felt as though the B7KU wasn’t a dead nuts model, but it was damn close and it def gave you that DG sound and feel. So I am really gassed about the BDDI and adding it to some of my patches. The King of Tone drives, well hell, pretty much every effect they added this time, really has my attention and excitement.

I think it’ll be pretty neat too to have the new EQ tools. So everything else will be icing on the cake. I also think it’s pretty neat that they finally made the patch share universal. Within reason anyway. I know any patch sharing an amp model will not have that. I’m starting to get the itch for amp and cab models again. I may need to figure out a way to get a stomp soon. I just got promoted at work, well, I’m going to be getting promoted at work, and it’s bringing me a decent bump in pay. So I should have the extra cash soon! :D

The programmable version of the BDDI was my one "always on" pedal before getting the HXFX. Bandmates really liked how it sat in the mix, so I'm curious to give the Line6 version a try. Curious about the Scrambler, too. I don't know if I'll find any use for the Murf, since I'm more of a plug-n-play type and the Bass Filter kinda has me covered there...

Most def. I can't wait till L6 updates the pitchshifting stuff on the Helix. We all know it's coming. It's just a question of when...

How do you know for sure was there a hint?

I've checked the scrambler and tech21 and my initial thoughts are that the scrambler is too subtle at low drive and I don't like it that much

The sansamp sounds..like a sandsamp. Great job. Weird default setting though (maxed bass, low gain, literally noone uses it this way)

I'm still on 2.6 or something, need to get up to speed!
Got some gigs coming up and very interested in trying out the BDDI vs my current B7K settings. I'd have loved a VT bass option as I'm chasing that sound.

Me neither brother, me neither.

I like the Ampeg Scrambler very much, we needed a high end overdrive with no low freq loss. The King of Tone in a parallel path, is also good. The Sansamp is not my sound, but it is not bad.

The Murf sounds good, but I would have loved that they added the MF101 LPF instead.

A bit dissapointed with the EQs, I would like to integrate the Shelf EQ into the Parametric EQ. And I would like to go under 2KHz in high shelf, and under 1KHz in Hi Cut. Still using the multiband compressor for that purpose.

We've seen the L6 guy that comes on here and as well as in other forums remark that they brought in some pitch shifting experts into their realm. So we know they've been working on it. Just a question of when it'll be released/updated. I actually like the Scrambler. At first I was like, eh. But after I messed with it a little, turned the gain way down and ran the level pretty high, it sounded awesome. I could see using it as a preamp over a dirt block. It adds a really nice warmth and body the way I had it set. It made it sound very "analogue" and full to my ear.

I can't really comment that much on the Murf yet. I was a little underwhelmed at first. But then I really started digging into and it is pretty darn cool. Not sure how often I could use it. But it's very musical and I could see doing some things with it. I would much prefer if they did the MF101 or the Freqbox though honestly. Maybe they will now that they've done the Murf. I mean, I'd have to think the Murf is one of the more underused Moogs of that line. Could be wrong, I'm far from being a Moog expert. But you'd think, if they are going to add stuff from Moog, they'd go after the stuff that is widely known, used and loved. Like the delay and the filter. So we can cross our fingers for those in future updates!!

I actually really liked the new tilt and shelf EQ's. I'm not a stickler when it comes to EQ. If it sounds good after I twist some knobs, I'm happy. and I was really liking the way they were effecting my signal. Especially with some different kinds of dirt. That's mainly why I was excited about them adding them, do quell certain freq's when using dirt. Which is used a lot on my board.

I also messed with the BDDI quite a bit. It's exactly how I remember it. I think they nailed it. Some who've used it for decades may hear some slight differences. But overall, I feel like it's dead on. It will be cool to have it at my disposal to add to certain patches. Overall, I'm always happy and excited when a new update drops. And it's no different this time. I've also been thinking of getting a Stomp too. I really want the amp and cab sims on my board. So I'm still thinking which way to go on that one. Either I'm getting the Helix floor or a stomp to add to the HX. Still not sure. But I def want one or the other.

Thats my long term plan Greg. My dream scenario is 2 boards flexible for guitar and bass; one small (Stomp controlled by smaller midi switcher with pedal loops) and one bigger controlled by HXe, popping the Stomp between them as needed.
*Boards would be Schmidt Array 450/250 respectively cos this is a dream ;). TC Corona is a spark boost. ML5 on big board to control other pedals under the top deck.

I'm really excited to try the new features out. Will probably happen on the weekend.

I'd love to see a tilt-blend for the IR's. Whenever trying IRs for the whole bass signal, I think the differences in the bass response really makes it hard to compare without tweaking it heavily. Anyone else having this problem?
Just a blend with a crossover frequency.

@gregmon79
Why not just getting the big Helix? I mean, stomp and HX...
