Line 6 HX Effects

Not for me. :(

I updated to 2.5 and then reset after. Corrupt presets remained. I overwrote them with empty presets, reset again, reapplied the 2.5 update, and no presets.

I’m doing a reset of global parameters. Is that what should bring back the presets?

It’s the reset where you hold down switch 6 and the tap tempo button when you turn it on.

This is def weird and totally whacky. For as cool and as well thought out as the HX is, man did they make this part of it screwy as hell. I’m still don’t gonna complain too much about it because I believe they will fix it with the main Edit update in the spring or whenever it’s going to be released. I hope anyway. It’s no dealbreaker for me, I got plenty of other presets and things to work out smashingly so far. But if I want to do some serious overhauling of my presets like move then around and set them up through Edit, it’s plain screwy atm. Really hope they get it worked out. I’m sure they’ve rec plenty of complaints and feedback about it by now.

Anyone try the synth blocks yet? I bet you could create some wicked synth tones with the effects available. If anyone's done this I'd like to hear thoughts. I'll get some time in tomorrow and check em out but was just curious now haha

Yeah I’ve using one of the synths, can remember which off the top of my head atm. I busted it out at practice last week. We started writing a new song from it. It was really cool.

At first I wasn’t very impressed with the synths in the HX. But then I started messing with them and realized at stock setting they are sort of unimpressive to me. Once I started tweaking, they really opened up. There’s def some great sounds in them. Just gotta find em.

Sweet! Can’t wait to check em out

I'm thinking of maybe upgrading to the LT to get access to all the amp and cab blocks as I could sell off some gear to aquire but wondering if your limited to 9 blocks like HX or is there more blocks to play with. My other "budget"option would be to get the new Mooer GE200 as the have all their new micro preamps and cabinets built within (I own one micro pre already # 012 and sounds great) or I'm also wondering if maybe the amps and cabs in the full Helix may be available for the HX in an update one day. I'm open to other options that may provide amp and cab Sims. Cheers!

The number of effects on the Helix floor/LT/Rack has a hard block limit at 32, but you might not be able to get all of them filled depending on DSP usage of the blocks. Page 19 of the following PDF (Helix Manual) outlines how the dynamic DSP works.

I can’t quite tell, but it looks like you can run A LOT more than 9 at a time...

^^^^^^^^

Well, there ya go.

Cool thanks I did flip through the manual but somehow missed that. I really like the scribble strips and not sure if I'd miss them if I upgraded. Full helix is just too far outta reach for funds. Now the dilema begins...

I think me personally, I’d miss the scribble strips. But then again, color coding can go a long way.
That’s exactly it @gregmon79 I like the signal flow view on that big screen so essentially don’t think it would be too hard getting used to colour coding. I always know what model of effect I’m usung anyways. The UI looks simple and easy to use as well. I really am leaning towards it but would have to sell off my B7k to help fund which isn’t a bad trade off as the obsidian block is quite descent, that and all the bass amp and cab blocks I think would be really nice and cover the grounds just fine. Another thing, I’ve been a super fanboy of my B7k cause it’s always delivered and feel guilty possibly parting with it.. Argh what to do haha

@Seanbassplayer, the synth I was using at practice last week is the synth-o-matic. It sounds a tad cheesy to me haha but the way we composed around it makes it sound killer. It’s crazy how some sounds along sound not as great as you’d think but then you get it in with a band and it sounds aweome. I add a trem and comp to it too though. It’s pretty cool.

Haha I’m the same exact way. Although my B7KU isn’t going anywhere. Ever. Unless it’s an upgrade to the next B7K line. Which I was actually thinking about going to the v2 B7KU. But then again, for what I’d update it to, I can get in the HX. I’m still planning on getting an A/OU though to swap out with my A/O.

Even if I got a helix floor, I would almost assuredly still use my preamps. Maybe I’d get them in my rack unit. Just plop a little custom board into it. Those 4 pieces are essential for me. Even with full amp and cab sims, those preamps are my flavor and I’d be running then even with a helix floor. However, I’d have to actually get and use a helix floor for a while to see. This is just me thinking out loud....

Cool I'll check that one out. Doesn't look like I'll be able to plug in today but I'm home tomorrow and the wife is back to work so I'll be able to dig in.

Yeah I’m messing with it now. You like glitchy stuff at all?? The “wave” 1 is glitch-o-riffic (on the synth-o-matic) It’ll depend on how you set it too. But it does some really cool glitchy stuff. Freq and Q set low low. Actually my Q is off and the Freq is set to like 8%. High pitch though. Dimed actually. Low mix, around 30%. Fun stuff.
