Can't see how it's a "waste" even if you only use a single patch: to get the same thing I posted above analog, you'd need at least three separate pedals (four if you went for a cab sim instead of a real cab) and an amplifier.

I hear this. I'm interested in this (mostly from your feedback on it) as a light-tour no-amp solution when needed. Not really interested even in the effects side.

My Stomp FINALLY arrived today. running it into my soundcraft ui16 and out to an EV ZLX15 . Presets don't sound half bad! The interface is fairly user friendly for a dinosaur like me, so I'm basically happy. Hit a bump on starting a preset from scratch , in the fact that when I click amps, only the guitar amps show up. I'm sure I'm overlooking something since I'm brand new to the unit. Back to scratching my head and fiddling with it for a while. Any links to startup tutorials will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I totally get it: my Jule rig can't come with me for my Mexico fly dates either, and the local backline can be a literal crap shoot.

I don't know ANYTHING about the pedal, but maybe you shouls check general settings and see if that's a instrument selection option like in the H9. I suspect it's set for guitar by default.
It would be cool to see just bass related stuff only like it's a dedicated bass pedal.

If you click to add a new block, and scroll down to amps, it should give you a choice between guitar and bass. However with cabs, it's all one big list with bass cabs at the bottom.

I only used mine after updating the firmware when I first got it, so I don't know if it's different with older firmware?

The only thing is, a lot of "guitar" stuff works well for bass too. You can use guitar amps dirty and in parallel or crossover, and they get a really great sound. Also, the Bassman (I forget what they call it) set clean, sounds really really good on bass. I'm sure there are others that work well too.

Buuuut... just thinking here, are you changing an existing preset? Because if it's one that has a guitar amp, and you go to select a different amp, it will still be in the guitar subgroup. You would have to back out to see the choice between guitar and bass.

^ played with it some more this morning and found what I'd been missing. I did update the firmware when it arrived yesterday, I'm just not a RTFM guy, so I dived in blind. I did convince myself to peruse some youtube tutorials though,....so not QUITE as blind as last night. Thanks much for your reply!

Another revamp in my pedalboard:

Got the Morningstar MC6 mkII, brought the MXR Bass compressor back and the X7 and the AOU still in the left and right loops. Even that I think I can get somewhat close in tone with the HX stomp, is just easier have them there and activate a loop whenever I feel like.
The VPjr is now a expression pedal (mainly volume). The L6/Mission pedal have a weird feeling, the Ernie Ball is way superior.

The MC6 is a very powerful controller. the Bank 1 I have the basic features (snapshots on the A/B/C , preset up and down on the D/E, mute/tuner on F, and a few extras like D+E with analog bypass, D+A stomp mode, E+B snapshot mode)
Bank 2 and 3 I have direct preset calls and the combo footswitches remains with the basic features (D+E analog bypass, D+A stomp mode, E+B snapshot mode, E+F tuner)

That give, plenty of options to work with the HX Stomp. Tonight I have a rehearsal and I'm curious with mode with be the more useful under real conditions.

I think I'm falling out of love with mine. It's great, but then I end up with the same issues that I always seem to run into with any of the Line 6 gear that I've had with the exception of the M5 - too much tweaking, volume / level balancing issues. Likely to go on sale shortly.

I'm really digging the Hotone Soul Press with the Stomp. I had to modify it to work how I wanted it to, though.
I originally thought it would work like the Mission Engineering pedal that is usually recommended with the Stomp, but I quickly learned it didn't work like that at all.
I gutted the pedal, swapped out the latching switch for a momentary one, and soldered the switch to tip, and the pot to the sleeve for EXP.
So, as it currently sits, the pedal is working as EXP 1, and Footswitch 5.

The HXS is powered off of it's own power supply, yes. The stomp, whammy, tensor, and octamizer were too much for the CS6 alone, and it would get real hot fairly quick... So I severed a limb off a triple tap and made it all fit under the board!

But is there a preference or something that can be changed so that amps automatically start with their tone knobs in the middle? It makes scrolling through the different amps very tedious.

That is terrible.
If you like how the pedal sounds it's just a minor problem, though. I remember when I was using an M9 and I've had the exact same experience with any dirt model I tried. All the other default effects sounded good.

Am I on the right track here? I'm thinking I am, but being an old geezer and not as "hip" to the possibilities of the Stomp, thought I'd check in with the pros and see what I'm overlooking. Everybody does things to their preference, but with that example, I'd probably setup my clean/comp tone and put the pedal in stomp mode. Then just setup phaser on/off on a footswitch, octave on/off on another footswitch, then you'd have the third footswitch for whatever. Some people love snaps, but I've played around with them a fair amount and seem to find I like other ways of doing things.
