anyone manage to get a usable fuzz? i try to dial in the fuzzes and nothing sounds right, i wanna get my old "mastroton" type silicon fuzz thingy. any tips?

I've never owned a mastotron so I can't say if I'm getting close or not.
I just know that I have my bass turned down quite a bit from max and then adjust the parameters to taste. I run an English Muff'n post effects and that really helps the sound. My fav is the Facial Fuzz fo sho.
Oh that I were more of a fuzz junkie. Then maybe I would be of more help.
Hey M9 users, is there a way to access different pages of a Scene set up, using an expression pedal?

I have replaced my entire pedal board for live with the m13. I use a furman board set up like so:
Wireless receiver > m13 w/ expression pedal > radial DI > wireless transmitter
Love it my board bass and amp are all wireless and I have everything I need in one board.
I also have an m9 that I use at home as a sketch pad or if I want to go light for a practice or simple play then I just take the m9. I have used the folders to separate the sketch pad. Scene from the scenes for two basses and one all EQ/ambient tone only based scene folder that I take effects from often to sculpt a base tone or jut use for "no effects" play.

One question... Do I have to use an effect for volume pedal or can I use a global controlled volume pedal and free up an effect?
There is no global volume pedal option in M9/13 (at least not yet). So you have to use one effect slot for volume pedal (it is in the distortion sector if I remember correctly).
Or you could put it one in the effects loop and use it between effects to alter the voltage sensitive or drive effects.
Does anyone use a compressor other than "Tube Compressor"? Other compressor models don't seem to work well with basses.

I'm thinking of picking an M9 up to replace a few of the pedals on my board, but pondering the signal chain, I think I would have to put the M9 after my dirt (Pigtronix Disnortion and Tech21 Bass VT) or possibly between the Disnortion and the VT (Disnortion->M9->VT).
My question is, how do the tracking-based effects (pitch shifter, bass octave, etc.) deal with a dirty signal? That is, do they still track after overdrive or fuzz?

Not in my experience with the M13. Tracking-based effects should be placed right after the bass signal. That's why I bought an M13 instead of an M9 although I don't need 4 effects at the same time; an M13 has an FX loop.
I don't want to add more to it so I can just keep using a slot for volume. I like the dirt and compression first but I dont use extreme settings on most effect
I use the m9 as a scketchbpad for the m13 or light use. It's all the same since one of the m13 Is always volume anyway.
Just got an M13 yesterday, and I'm digging it a LOT so far. I have two quick questions for those who have a bit more experience with it than me, though...
1: Is there a way to set the effects loop to always on, vs. only on when effects are engaged? It's not a huge issue, but I plan on running my Tech21 VT Bass in the loop, which I always have engaged. Right now I just have a fairly transparant compressor setting that I can keep engaged so that I have the effects loop working.
2: Is it safe to remove the screws and rubber feet on the bottom of the M13? I plan on velcro-ing it to a board, and I don't want the circuit board to be bouncing around in there.

Yes, at least in DSP bypass mode. I have Cream Pie and EHX BMS in M13 effects loop and I can use them although none of the M13 effects is selected. CP is always on
I would not be surprised if the true bypass mode bypasses your effects loop too.I did this 18 months ago. Removed rubber feet, put screws back and velcroed the monster. No harm done
