I have the Pod Go, and I took the easy path, finding a patch that sounds good to me and I've just been using it.
But, since I've never really learned how to get the sounds I want on my own, I'm severely limited.
This may sound ignorant (it is), but how do I get started playing with the various effects, ordering of effects (as discussed above), etc., so I can dial in my own tones?
I have watched a few youtube videos and read the Pod Go manual (true!), so I have an understanding of which buttons to press and which knobs to turn.
But I'm struggling to understand an approach to making "my sounds." When I've tried, the results never sound too good, so I've given up a few times.
I feel like I'm missing out on some fundamental learning that needs to happen before I can understand what to use, how to set it, and where to place it in the chain.
I'm willing to put in the reps, but I feel like I need some pointers (web links, books, etc.) to get started. Again, something beyond "here's the button you press or knob you turn to do certain actions." It's more "here's why you do this," or "this is what you need to do this" type of things. Just looking for something to get my brain to click.
For example, I understand what a compressor does, but I can't really hear what it does until I take the settings to extremes. I know this is subjective, but there must be some heuristics, rules, or guidelines for stuff like this and of course all the other settings.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
