I'm not sure of the legal ramifications of posting the links on these boards but with a few searches on google I was able to find a couple of overseas retail/auction sites that would be more than happy to send them right to my door.

the first pic is a Dillion available to buy today if you wanted to, the second pic is a Chinese online site which would also sell you their model today if you wanted it. The Dillion is around 500, but the cheap Chinese one in the pic is ( with 140.00 shipping closer to 400 ) there was a HUGE discussion about the cheap Chinese knock-offs in another thread here

I had 3 Dillions for a long time, and if this one is anything like the one's I had, the quality "should" be superb...OBVIOUSLY it is no Ric, and nobody should be fooled into thinking it is ANYTHING close to the real deal.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss this as fake or crappy...this economy has people selling things they don't use anymore to make some cash for other stuff. It's a real buyer's market right now...

Example:

I snagged a slightly modded 1962 P (w/ added J PUP) for $950 last April, and a 1975 P (also w/ added J PUP) for $600 last weekend.

I hope someone jumped on this deal, or at least attempted to...

Not everything "cheap" is "stolen".

While you may well be right, I still think that the asking price raises too many red flags; Rics are kinda-sorta hard to come by in general; they rarely devalue that much (if at all), unless 'road worn' in this case actually means 'beat to crap twice'; if it IS a legit sale and the seller can produce a receipt or similar to verify legit ownership, why is it so cheap, especially if it's being emergency-sold to raise funds?

It's also possible that the seller truly does not know what he actually has, and if so, someone's gonna get a screaming deal. However, given the instrument under discussion, I rather doubt it. If I were considering purchasing that particular bass, I'd want to see paperwork on it, and/or ask for the serial number off of it and then see how the seller reacts.

I've dealt with expensive esoterica a LOT in my profession (high-end bicycles) and have seen a few truly legit and cheap deals on occasion...usually tho, when someone shows up with a $5K bike and wants $950, there's something screwy somewhere...I'm just sayin'...

Actually, I'm not so surprised at that, if their CL is anything like ours...I e-mail/text/carrier pigeon for info on something I see here, and maybe 1 out of 10 actually respond. There are postings at least once a month chewing people out for not following thru on their ads.
