I agree.
I own an Ibanez SR505. It is a decent bass for the money. However, if the new bass is going to your main instrument, I would purchase one of the higher end models.

The Lakland body isn't particularly small. The bass you want is the Pedulla ThunderBolt 5, or ThunderBass 5 if you like neck-through. You can order it with 19 mm or 17 mm spacing. Mine is a ThunderBolt 5 fretless with the narrow spacing. It's a great-sounding bass, and looks fabulous, too! BTW, the red one is mine. The natural one is not ... it's from their website.karrot-x said:You said "like lakland." I suggest you go with a 55-02, and/or 55-94. Sounds like everything you'll need in one nice package. I was going to get a 55-02 until I decided the 35" scale wasn't for me. However, I'm playing a pretty fast metal band and the stretches were just too tough.
I can't wait until I get my 44-02.
Here goes my reputation ...agreatheight said:+1 for SR1005 - should do the trick for you!
3 more to choose from would be the Gibson/Tobias Killer B, Growler and Renegade. Super light, small necks, 34" 17.5mmguitarkim79 said:- 5 string
- Thin + narrow neck, with ~17 mm spacing
- Small body
- Lightweight
- prefer 34" scale, but 35" will probably work if the upper horn is long enough to make it "feel" shorter
- Small frets - like Lakland - would be nice, but if everything else about the bass fits, I can work with jumbo frets
