I use Rattlesnake cables. While I appreciate the toughness of them, I do have two issues with them. One, they are not supple and they are heavy. When you plug it into a pedal box thats on a table, it will lift the pedal box up due to how stiff it is. Secondly, the sleeve that it comes with, while tough, is seriously abrasive. I don't gig, only play at home. I would like a cable thats high quality, supple and light. I don't need super protection as the cables just sit on a carpet and I'm not gigging. I don't mind paying fr quality as long as the value is there. I have looked at the thread regarding cables, but i'm hoping to get some general recommendations with my specific needs in mind. Thanks!

I use Mogami Cables for the reasons you mention.
Had a mogami patch cable and after not using it for 2 years the plastic shell around the leads crumbled off. Not buying those again.
I like MXR cables: supple, durable, don’t tangle easily, affordable. I still prefer them to much more expensive cables I’ve tried.
The better Mogamis use G&H metal connectors, they are pretty much a Buy It For Life purchase.
IMO the heavy-and-stiff Rattlesnake type of cables are absurdly impractical in most applications for the reasons that you state.
Are you referring to the platinum series or the Coreplus series? The gold series connector housing look like the ones thats crumbled after sitting in a drawer for two years, but maybe they are different from what I got on my patch cables.
Butch Ammons at Bayou Cables makes custom cables at reasonable prices with quick delivery. My favorite top-quality light and flexible formula: Canare cable with Switchcraft ends. Lots here recommend Neutrik ends. Switchcraft are lighter IME.

Divine Noise out of Portland. Awesome cables, lifetime warranty. Had an 80lb Acoustic bass combo fall backwards onto a DN Speaker cable sticking 90 deg out the back, no issues. Crazy level of build!

Mogami cable and Neutrik connectors are excellent. I have used 1000's of feet of the stuff and hundreds of connectors from Neutik and Switchcraft and have never seen a crumbled plastic. I used parts that sat for several years and put them to service for years more and never had a problem.
I also like Gotham cable for instruments. Of course they get Neutrik ends. Did you clean the cable with a harsh cleaner or something?

I’ve had two Mogami instrument cables that have been my main two cables since 2009. Never had a problem, still going strong. They both have metal connectors though, not plastic.
Cable is cable is cable is cable. Buy a spool and a pack of connectors and make your own. Even if you care about what brand of cable you use, the electrons that pass through it won't.

Slow down there partner. Different cable is different. Consider inductance, resistance, capacitance, reactance at audio frequencies, insulation characteristics (stiffness, durability, max voltage rating, etc.). There are many books written on the engineering of cable.
But I think I get what you're saying - that pretty much any decent audio cable should technically work fine for guitar use.
