looking for a new bass... suggestions?

I may soon be in the market for a new bass, but as I'm still a little new to everything I have very little experience with brands and styles.

Rules:

Must be 5 string.
Solid colored. Prefer black.
PJ pickups.
NO FENDER.
I'd prefer a toggle over volume control too.

About my style:

I play both finger and pick, I Mainly play metal though I do dabble in Funk from time to time. I prefer my bass to sound like a growling demon and I use a ******** of distortion and turn up my lows and entirely remove mids lol.

Basses I'm already looking at:

Shechter Damien
Nikki Sixx Epi(even if it is 4 string)

Any suggestions are welcome!

you said you're looking for PJ Pickups but listed two basses that don't have PJ pickups. Only 5 string I know thats not a Fender with PJ Is an ESP B-55, and the Yamaha BB405

My bad... this is why I'm here lol. I have an ESP LTD B-50, somehow it never occurred to me to look at the B-55. I love my ESP, but I worry that the fret buzz issues that the B-50 has would be just as apparent on their other models.

I've got one, don't have any fretbuzz issues. Either way if you decide to get one and it does, a set up by a professional will remove the problem.

BTW If you want to actually be heard in your metal band, drop some of your lows and highs, and bump up your mids to around 3 o clock. Unless of course you enjoy being buried under guitars and drums.

I've been messing with the EQ on my amp for awhile anyway, so I'll give that a shot thanks for the tip. My local music shop carries ESP basses and does my setups too, so I'll probably check it out there, I just bought a couch next door to the place anyhow so I'll be down there to pay the rest of that off. I think my fret buzz issues may be the result of playing BEAD on my 4 string, which wouldn't affect a 5er. I'd hope to have more variety, maybe I'll just be a lifetime ESP player.

BEAD on the 4 string wouldn't make a difference. They're the exact same bass, just a little wider neck, a 5 string bridge, and 5 tuners.
