Hey guys!
New to the forums, though I have come across this site a few times while doing some Google searches.
Anyway, my dilemma is pretty straightforward.
I recently joined a band, and I need a good 5-string bass for around $500. I'm willing to go a bit over, but not a whole lot.
As far as background and what I'm looking for:
- My current main is a 4-string Schecter Stiletto Studio. It's what I learned on when I started playing 6 years ago, and I still love it.
- For the time being, I picked up an ESP LTD B-105. Not a huge fan of it. Probably because I can't get the B-string to come through when I hit an open note, only when holding down frets. Tried changing action and whatnot to fix the issue, but no luck. Anyway, I digress...
- I played an Ibanez SR255 in the store the other day, and I actually liked the neck a lot, so I started looking at the SR505. However, I've read enough mixed comments that I think I'll stay away from it.
- The band and I play mostly originals, but do some covers such as Killswitch Engage, System of a Down, etc. Nothing too complicated, but I like to add lots of little fills. I alternate playing with fingers and picks.
- Here's me playing because why not;
Any advice? Please and thank you.
