I'm looking to buy a new bass and Ive been eyeing the Warwick RockBass Streamer Standard

but they're not shipping until next month and I'm impatient. I took a look at guitar centers used equipment and I found this used Warwick RockBass Corvette

And I'm not sure if I want to risk a used bass. Any ideas?

I had one of those older Corvette with single piece bridge, but a 5-string Fretless. It was a nice bass and sounded very open and vibrant. Very light Alder body and the 4-piece laminate neck was on the chunky side (I like them like that). Decent sounding electronics.

The Streamer has updated hardware (2-piece bridge and W logo), but it is a passive instrument.

There is nothing wrong with either, but they will have totally different voices. The Corvette will be very modern-sounding with much clarity. The Streame has more of a Vintage growl to it. There are many examples on Youtube...

This is as close as I can quickly find for the Corvette...

Well...they were the first version of the Rockbass and people hated the fact that it said Rockbass on the headstock instead of the "W". They were also more cheaply made in China back then...
(Edit): Apparently they are still made in China but with much better QC than the first generation RB's...

Both are great basses with a lot of new innovative features like the bridge, neck, nut, and pickups. They both look good. Difficult decision. I would go with the new Corvette.

I think the streamer pickups sound amazing for a fretless bass, personally. If you were thinking about a fretless bass, I'd go that route.

As for used versus new, just play the thing. If it feels good, buy it. New gear is often overrated. For that matter, vintage gear is often overrated. Just make sure the place has a decent return/exchange policy and have at 'er.
