Looking for Love Advice

maybe you should get a mutual friend to show her this thread. love like that doesn't go one way. i bet she's confused and scared. maybe she thought you were going to purpose to her and didn't, who knows? i'd say just be nice to her and don't act like a whiner either. if you need someone to talk about this with, my aim screen name is on my profile.

and even if she doesn't want anything to do with you anymore, at least you play the bass guitar!

Whatever you do DON'T CALL HER TO TELL HER THAT YOU CAN'T BE FRIENDS, that's fuc*ing pathetic, if she calls you then tell her but don't call her up just to diss her it'll come off as weak sauce, she already dissed you dood, the best thing is complete and udder silence, it's a whores kryptonite.

Sir Eddie, I've got to say first and foremost, from one "nice guy" to another, you've got my condolences.

As has been stated above, you're a "nice guy". Well dude, I hate to tell you, but women in their 20's don't want a nice guy. They want a very specific kind of dude (I think you refered to them as "douchebags" in your post) that they can "fix" and "change" and make all their girlfriends jealous with. You and I are not that kind of guy! We've bestowed upon ourselves the dubious honour of being "nice". We're the guy that they shack up with for a while when they've been dicked around to the point where they feel so horribly low about themselves that they need that egocentric pick me up that comes in the form of our affection, consideration and "sensitivity to their needs". We're a tear-stained shoulder, a firm hug, and a rub on the back that says "Everything is going to be a-okay because you're a special, beautiful, wonderful person." That is our primary failure, as far as I'm concerned. Don't get me wrong, man. Being nice is fine. You just need to know where to draw the line. Women in their 20's get bored of that stuff though, dude. You'll compliment them, dote on them, make em feel like Queens. But, because you're nice, you'll give that up too easily, they'll get bored, and they'll start wanting more of a challenge. That challenge lies in the affections of scores of douchey, horrible dudes. They cut you loose, leave you feeling broken, sad and alone. And yes sir, it absolutely sucks, but that's the way that cookie crumbles. So it goes.

But for as hurt as you are right now, you're in a really, really great position. You're out of a stagnant relationship with an uninterested party, and now have the option to do something I don't think you've done for a while: Think exculsively about and act upon your own best interests. Granted, you can mope, and feel really terribly about losing someone who was special and close to you. Or, you can come to the realization that this person stopped wanting that closeness and willingly walked away from it. Now that this party is out of the picture, you've got yourself to get re-aquainted with. Do not call your ex. Do not speak to your ex. Do not honour your ex's memory with adolescent poetry and self-loathing. Don't try to be "the better person". Don't be the "nice guy who still values her friendship". That dude is a sap. The value of the two of you on friendly terms went out the window when she left you. Should you run into her, be civil. Definately be civil. But don't be nice.

As your sage-like, fellow TBers have offered above, there are many things that will fast-track you on the road to "what was her name again?" country. Hit the gym, lift some weights, start doing yourself the favour of engaging in activity that's gonna make you feel really good. Rediscover your pride, man. You've tried being a nice guy, and that blew up in your face. Now discover what it is that makes you a GOOD MAN. Find that, and pay it forward.

Hang out with your friends you've been neglecting, go bars, go to parties, take up some hobbies. Meet people. Hell, go out and meet interesting people. Meet funny people. Meet smart people. Meet sexy people. Surround yourself with interesting, funny, smart, sexy people, and make yourself available to them. I'm not talking soul-bearing, deep and meaningful, "I think we're connecting on a higher-level" type stuff, but just being cool, and being cordial, and being someone that people are gonna wanna be around.

Be a GOOD MAN, and take your pick from the cornucopia of ass that gets thrown your way.

And don't stop at just one. Get as much as you can. Be a gentleman. Be up front about your intentions. Be honest. But don't be subservient and cater to everyone's whims. Be good to yourself...

anyways, I forgot what I was talking about... I guess I just got a little too excited about the idea of a dude turning a rotten situation into an extremely advantageous one... either way, choice is yours. You wanna call her and be her friend, go ahead. I've got some Smiths records and a dark, moping room you can borrow... I just think that's a lame idea...

Good Advice

And while youre busy running around enjoying the new "you" you just might so happen to meet a new chick who digs the new "you" you find yourself to become. Then you can, like, get laid on a regular basis without establishing any means of comittment.

I've already come to the conclusion, pretty much right when she broke it off that if she didn't come back I was going to sleep around a lot and say "**** you" to serious relationships for a while.

And its true. I have bent over backward for this girl. I know I have. But I always thought it was worth it... because I really was happy with her. Being with her made me happy. I could imagine myself being happy with her for the rest of my life. But at the same time I always wanted to **** around with other girls on occasion.

This was my first serious long-term girlfriend. We lost our virginity to each other....

Time to **** around I say. I do like sex.

I really changed a lot while I was dating her. A lot of it was for the better though, I'm much more mature now than I ever was. I've been acting like an adult for the last year! **** that! lol

I don't know what I need to do for myself. But I thank all of you for your opinions.

Right on brother. Go forth, hit it all and hit it hard. :hyper:

So... I'm probably going to need advice on this part of things, lol.

I think the first step is going to be not being afraid of women. Not being afraid of rejection. Once I get that down... I'm hoping the rest comes to me...

BUT

Let the advice for picking up chicks begin!

Again... if you haven't gathered... I've pretty much never picked up a girl randomly, never asked for numbers... nothing. I've had 4 girlfriends now, and I had one random date with a girl I met through a friend, but I never called her back. I didn't like her that much, lol.

So... let the idiots guide to picking up chicks begin.

Just be confident, funny, and straight up with them as far as you want. Many will bed you just to see if your kidding or not. Some will bed you because they realize that you're a safe easy lay, and some will lay you just be be curious. If they aren't interested, hit on their friends. Some of the aforementioned uninterested chicks will hop on board when you remove the aforementioned attention onto another chick. Chicks are competitive to a fault. Even if it means laying a guy they originally passed on just because they don't want the fatty across the bar taking your attention. You might not be in the mood to tap everything that moves, but you have to be mentally strong for this. Push through this like an athlete. Have a goto realization to trick yourself with. "Tapping the fatty still beats another night with rosey". I've used that one in the past, but more recently, I've found that "One good feature is all you need" also works.

I'm not going to give you lines to pick up on chicks because I don't believe in them, but if you interest them right off the bat with something humorous you have a good in. Some chicks like to consider themselves complicated and emo, you can approach them with the old "hey you want to hear a crazy story..." approach. (Make sure you have a crazy story in mind). Replace "crazy" with "funny" depending on the chick. Keep in mind that chicks, just like all of us, like to be entertained. So entertain them. Tell them something crazy. You're a bass player, for pete's sake. Improvise if you have to. If you've got a mildly interesting story, embellish it a little bit to make it more interesting. Went to vegas and won a hundred bucks isn't nearly as interesting as went to vegas and won a thousand bucks. You dig?

Remember, it's a numbers game. Figure out your ratio. If you're a 1 in 20 guy talk to 40 chicks in a bar in order to have a couple of options. Personally, I have no pride. I've lowered my standards, so I'm a 1 in 5 guy. Enjoy. :)

Get out there and start playing the scene, sucess is sexy, females go for it. Hitting her friends is fine maybe even good advice,
but when its buddies woman lay off. Some do I know but none of us like to see it.
Get back to us in a few weeks,I'm sure some of us are gonna be envious.

The thing about tagging friends is that I live in Cincinnati, she lives in BG.

We will probably never run into each other on accident either.

Well, then tag whatever you find and forget about it. Best thing you can have is distance man! That's the only thing that really got me over wife #1, moving from FL to NC...just don't freakin' do what I did after the move and marry essentially the first chick you tag in a new place!

;)

First off, welcome back to the land of the living! :hyper: I think you're almost over the hump to the hump but we'll keep an eye on ya just to be sure.
I think the first step is going to be not being afraid of women. Not being afraid of rejection.
We're gonna have to roll up our sleeves on this one. ;) When you crashed your bike did you leave it laying there and walk away 'cause it was too scary? Your skateboard? Your car? Hell noes! You got back on that puppy and rode! THAT stuff can seriously hurt ya. A girl? Pfft.

Rejection? That is totally in your mind. Your perspective means everything. SHE missed out by not wanting to talk to you. SHE missed out by not wanting to go to the concert. You're a great guy with a lot of cool things going on just trying to meet some new people to share your incredibly good life and talents with...
I've pretty much never picked up a girl randomly, never asked for numbers... nothing.
Well dang, you don't have a fear of rejection. You have a fear of the fear of rejection which is just silly. O.K.? Get that out of your mind. You need experience and the best way to get that is just do it.

Start out with saying "hi or how's it going" to every girl you see for the next few days. Old, young, fat, skinny, groups, alone, etc. ALL of them. Smile. Now don't turn 90o and jog over to a girl 50 yds away. :rollno: That just makes you scary. Just the girls that pass through your zone. Try it. Just a friendly greeting for now.

"...never picked up a girl randomly..." You are a freakin' BASS player! That, my brother, is a veritable gold mine for... um, yeah, that. Get out there & PLAY. They will come to you, I kid you not. If it is a group of girls introduce yourself to each one and make eye contact. If you show the interest and have confidence you'll need a Trojan endorsement! :D

...I had one random date with a girl I met through a friend, but I never called her back. I didn't like her that much, lol.
Bad move brother, you are at the numbers stage, sheer numbers. "Like" has nothing to do with it. The culling process will come later. :smug: Speaking of which, do not, I repeat, do not stop at #1 and think/say, "I have a girlfriend now." :rollno:

We'll get you on the right path. Hang in there. :bassist:

Just flirt with every single girl that comes your way. Dont worry about getting laid. Let the sluts come to you, they will.

I split up with my wife in Spetember. Slept with random chicks after that. Now I have the coolest girlfriend in the world. And it required absolutely no effort on my part! Im just that awesome. (or so she thinks)

An idea or two on things to say....

If she asks you to guess her age, guess WAY wrong. The worst thing is to be 3 years off. If you are 30 years off, she will laugh and go on to something different.

There is a fine line between arrogance and self-confidence. Chicks love self-confidence.

If you don't ask, they can't say yes. This is the salesman's creed. Getting a date is all about sales, except that you are selling yourself. And be polite. If you are going to be real direct, use euphemisms for sex, don't just ask if they want to ****.

Use your folks. They can help set a girl at ease.

Never skip a gig or practice to for a chick. Bring her along to the gigs. Your band mates will appreciate it.

Most importantly, have fun.
