Lord Help Me!

One week today. No one's been murdered yet.

This is the hardest freaking thing I think I've ever done :hmm:

The first week is the worst of it. Congratulations. It doesn't suddenly get a lot easier but it does slowly get better from here. Just remember that first week and how you don't ever want to have to do that again.

Just keep what you went through over the last week fresh in your mind. You're probably over the physical cravings, but the mental cravings will still be there. You just have to be strong. I know there were points when I quit where I had to grit my teeth and tell myself I wasn't going to smoke for the next 5 seconds. I had to break it up into tiny amounts so that way I could tell myself, "I didn't smoke in the last 5 seconds, so the next 5 seconds will be easier" and so on.

Focus on the positive benefits you've gained. Have you noticed how much less you cough now? Have you passed by another smoker who's just had a butt and smell them from 10 feet away? You used to smell like that too, but you couldn't tell because you killed your sense of smell.

I bet food tastes a whole heck of a lot better than it did last week. Of course, this benefit is a double edged sword, but you can put all that fidgetyness (is that a word? :p ) to work by taking a few walks around the block throughout the day to release that nervous energy and burn a few calories.

You can do this man. I'm pulling for you. In fact reliving this through you makes my resolve to stay a non-smoker just that much stronger.

Another positive thing; you said this is possibly the hardest thing you've ever done in your life. As you go on in your life when you think something is really hard you can look back and say, "This is easy, because I quit smoking, and THAT was really hard!"
