Been there for a while. My current stable fits me so well that window shopping for new basses is just silly.

Maybe I'll hit up a vintage store once in a while but there are almost no basses carried at most regular stores that I want or need.

It could be that I am happy to be getting my reading together too. My favorite bass for lessons and practice is my Peavey Fury, but my fives are still preferred for playing at church.

I haven't been to a music store in a while ... I have 15 basses ...

You know there are medical conditions that make you think and say crazy nonsensical stuff-- maybe you should see your doctor.. get him/her to check your blood and see if your thyroid and pituitary glands are still working.
You could have some sort of heavy metal poisoning or you inhaled way too much bug spray and weed killer while working outside in the yard.

Nothing wrong with that. I've lost any GAS pains that I used to have. I have two nice basses that I play, and at 52 (and a son in school), I am not interested in getting another bass just to get a bass. Either it won't be as nice as what I have, or I will be spending more money than I should.

Swing City folks know me by name. They have some nice stores with lots of Fenders. I got that Mustang PJ that I later traded for an Ibanez from them.

Well Doc I'm down to 2 basses, my 74 Fender Jazz and a 2014 Fender Deluxe 5 string. I think I've been blessed enough to have had quite a few High-end basses and other basses as well until recently recognizing as Anthony Jackson has said that I have more playing gigs behind me than what I have in front of me so as for me, those 2 basses that I spoke of will suffice, and to be honest If I didn't have the 5 string bass that I have now...I would be perfectly fine with just playing my 74 Jazz Bass. Suffice it to say that my urge for buying any type of Bass related anything is damn'er non existant.

For what's left of stores in my area, I haven't felt like walking into a music store for about the last five years.

And either way, the only time I would go into them was when I was actually in the market. I don't kick tires that much. When I'm there, I'm shopping - and with intent to buy.

Back in the good old days when the personnel didn't turn over once every three weeks and the good places knew their clientele, that used to pay off big time for people like me. The shops knew I was serious and had the money available when I'd go in and ask to try things out. Used to get good service, solid advice, and a little red carpet. They'd even know what was on my GAS list and in my price range and give me a heads up whenever anything good came into the shop.

Those days are long gone. It's all a numbers game for the most part with retail music stores now. There are still a few of old guard shops out there. But they're few and far between, and mostly located nowhere near where I live.

So it goes.

Every time I come to that point, it passes. I keep hoping it won't pass, but it always does. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I thought I was all set. Fretted and fretless Fenders, and a decent upright, adequate PA, Dry private rehearsal space and a decent(if heavy) rig.

ZZZZZZZAP! Fender 300C's brain starts to pop and cut out. Probably not worth trying to find an occasional pop problem.


So! do I need a Peavey Mini Max, or a Fender Rumble 500 head? ......all advice will be considered
