Lost the Urge

Lately, I just don't want to go to music stores. I guess paying off a nice bass for the Fall has reduced my interest, but whatever it is, I am just not interested in checking out basses lately.
It could be that I am happy to be getting my reading together too. My favorite bass for lessons and practice is my Peavey Fury, but my fives are still preferred for playing at church.

That's usually just a temporary condition brought on by G.A.S. being relieved short term by acquiring a new instrument or by a temporary shortness of cash which usually seems to be connected in some way or other.

I have found, that after a few bouts of it, G.A.S. for me personally is not that satisfying. I have my two basses that work perfectly for me and a good amp with my necessary effects. Most of the stuff I bought on the whim thinking it would make my sound better I just ended up selling.
They are simply a means to an end which is playing a good show every time and I get the same results show after show.

It certainly could be temporary, but lately when going crosses my mind, I am like no. Why waste time looking at basses?

:wideyed:

But.....but.....

It's NOT a waste of time! What about all of those bass reviews you post for US?!?!?!

I mean, first we're not supposed to be funny any more. Now no Doc Cheese bass reviews. I guess no @BassCliff gig reports next???? Maybe we should just expect @JimmyM to be a GK fan and @Linnin to hate the Fender Rumble series. @mellowinman is gonna fall back into a bad funk and stop being his all-original self.

It's a slippery slope, Doc! And it all hinges on you! :help:

:wacky:

(Seriously, yer not gonna stop posting videos of you playing basses.....are You? :crying:)

If I see something interesting, I will be happy to post. The coolest thing about those Caprice posts is that I helped some people pick a bass they love, and is more cool than getting one myself.;)

Silly folks, he isn't talking about the bass....allow me to solve this issue.

Thankfully, they are local. If they were on the coast, you might never have found them.

In all seriousness, keep running with it. Contentment is a great thing. I need a bit on amps. I can't shake the tube-amp monkey off my back lately.

I guess I really am a church musician now because I did not know The Urge still gigged. I know they almost hit it big around 1999 or so.

I'm suffering from the same problem doc. I'm head over heals in love with all the gear I have. And the last time I went to a GC or Sam Ash they had nothing of interest.

I haven't been to a shop in over 3 months and see no need in the future.

Besides I have backup to just about everything and I even have 3 extra sets of strings.

Been there Dr!
Since I have a collection of great basses...I have no desire to go to GC or even the higher end shops...
