Love'em my new fav . Very tight & focused but yet nice even tension that feels great , Killer B strings too and they last and last . I'm slowly equipping the herd with them but so far on the 35" 5ver they are fantastic ! Very well may be the best strings ever ! :bassist:

R. Cocco nickelwounds for me. Killer 5-string performance; well- balanced sound with plenty of meat and a fast attack, and tension is just right (for me). Nice sensitivity to left hand nuance like vibrato and slides - big swoopy slides/glissandi on the lower strings are just plain fun, as the sound does not die mid-slide. The kicker is their great pitch integrity, which really becomes apparent with chordal playing and the upper reaches of the B-string. I've pretty much committed to them for my fiver, and am thinking about them for my four-string with rounds as well, although I have to measure to ensure they will hang with body-through stringing. I was all about DR Sunbeams before finding the Coccos, but am increasingly leaving the Sunbeams behind.

Having been a Rotosound fanatic for many years...I've converted to the R. Cocco's too. I dig the SS rounds and especially on fretless. I thought that the DR Sunbeams might be worth a try but was very disappointed with the feel and tone (never could understand the attraction to any nickel strings) so I'm back to the R. Cocco

speaking of nickel, has anyone tried the Richard Bona signature set?

on the 5ver, I'm using the Fat Pak...WOW

By the way any one know where to get the best price on R. Cocco's...I know they are worth it but hey

I had never heard of them so decided to try them after reading this thread. I like them very much indeed. Does he do flats or tapes? Off to check... Back from the search.. No just rounds in nickel or steel. I have nickels... They sound excellent.

My 5er is a Fender Jazz (34"), so I can't say for certain. I'm thinking their extra-long scale set will give you the length you need to make it through the body. According to their website, the offer 2-1/2 reduced gauge or exposed core at the ball end.

I saw that but found the web page disappointing. It makes sense that those 2-1/2 thingies are options, but I wish there were more info about the extra long scale bass strings.

Even a pic of the different end options would be nice. :eyebrow:

They are the RC6C steels. The bass is a MTD kz6 w aguilar obp-3 and ken smith flat top pickups.

Just as a follow up.

I am still pretty impressed by these strings. Actually impressed enough that I have stopped auditioning strings. Usually I have a fall back string (was the SR2000's) and I order a new set of strings every couple of months to try them out. They are so well balanced tonally that seem to make my obp-3 eq more effective. Have to give the Richard Cocco strings a big thumbs up for these.
