Love me some R. Cocco's

Okay, I'm really loving the tone of these strings now that I've been using them a couple months. They're stainless 45-105.

One problem....I bought the last from Bass NW and they are not going to carry anymore! No one else around Seattle has even heard of these strings.
I rarely ever see them on ebay, and juststrings.com doesn't carry them either.
What dealers can we get them from??????????

Wow I just saw this thread at it really warms my heart to hear so many cats digging R.Cocco strings. I just want to clear up a few misnomers and rumors in regards to the history of R.Cocco.

Richard Cocco Sr. wound the first electric bass string for Leo Fender back in the 50's. For the record, Labella never made R.Cocco strings using the R.Cocco string winding method. Richard Sr. did work for them for some time but LaBella strings and R.Cocco hand made strings are two different animals.

Later Richard Cocco Sr went on to co-found DR Strings. A few
years went by and Richard Cocco Sr. started what is in now R.Cocco.

In the mid 90's R.Cocco moved to Italy. Richard Cocco Sr.'s hand wound traditions have been carried on by current owner Mr. Alfonso Annecchiarico.

I know the strings are presently some what hard to find. I have dedicated my efforts to make these strings more readily available!!!!!

I'm loving these strings more and more each week. The first two basses I strung up back in February still sound just as awesome and 'fresh' as the last bass I strung up two weeks ago! The feel and tone I just can't get over how good it is.

I stocked up last month on a six-pack, but man finding them can be difficult. Since Bass NW doesn't carry anymore, I've been ordering from Bass Specialties. But I do dislike having to go across the country just for strings, 'cause even they run out. Well, hopefully a few more closer dealers catch onto them.

Doesn't Roger Sadowsky have his strings made by R. Cocco?

I wonder how much the his black label SS and Bright Nickel resemble R. Cocco strings of similar makeup. Any Cocco users here who have also used Sadowsky strings?

I've used both and wouldn't have thought they were made by the same manufacturer, especially the steels. I tried out both the black and blue Sadowsky steels and nickels a while back and did like the sound, but the quality was terrible. Out of 4 sets, I had one totally dead string and another that had in-built chorus! By comparison, the R Cocco Steels are my favourite strings of all time and all, but one of my basses, are strung up with them. They simply sound great and last for months! In about 15 sets, I've never come across a dodgy string yet.

Is anyone using the tapered or exposed B string. I've A/B'd the standard and tapered and I think I prefer the tapered. I am thinking about ordering a exposed B today.

R. Cocco steels on my Fbass Studio. I used these strings years ago then the supply dried up and had to go to another brand. But I never forgot how they felt/played/sounded.

The best strings EVAR.

I tried a set of Coccos awhile back. Loved `em at first, but they went dead really quick. Soaked `em and they came back, but not for long. Maybe I`ll give `em another shot.

Two years on since I wrote post #8 for this thread, and other than on a 4-string I rarely play, I'm using R. Cocco nickel rounds on all of my fives, including a fretless, except for one axe that I have strung with Sadowsky flats. I have yet to get a bad string in a box, and the .125 B-string is excellent, excellent, excellent. They cost a bit more and are hard to find, but I'm lucky to live in Los Angeles, where the Bass Exchange usually has them in stock. Great strings!

I had some on my T-40 and they sounded amazing. Some of the nicest strings I've tried. I'll have to try some on my P-bass after my GHS die.

Since I changed the tuning on the bass, I switched the strings. Unfortunately the strings are no longer usable (for any of my other basses) since I had them strung through the body. I'll keep them and see if I can't do something with them.
