Low B distorting/clipping

So essentially, the low B string on my OLP MM3 keeps distorting if I pluck it hard with a pick. It's not because its hitting the pickup or anything because I lowered the pickup very deep into the body and I tested it to see if it might be the amp/cabs by plugging in a jazz and had no problems with it so I know its the bass. Could it be an electronics thing or would it more so be related to the pup?

I had the same problem with my Reverend recently. Turns out, my pickups were higher on the B and E. I lowered the pickups and it solved the problem. I do however need to be careful because playing agressively on the lower strings can still clip my preamp section of my amp.

I think your OLP might just have a hotter signal, than your Jazz.
