Low-cost DIY practice/coffeehouse tweeterless 110 [long]

Yeah, I knew the price on neo's went up, but didn't realize that much.
So the search continues....so far the Eden EX110 is the least expensive cab I've come across. But perhaps not the best. I really
can't say since I can't do a side by side plug and play comparison.
But getting back to neo, in a single 10" cab, will the weight really matter that much...?

I just built one of these cabs. I got the speaker for $120 with free shipping.
I had a lot of the smaller parts so I have about $150 into it.

It is is a GREAT little cab for the money.
Yeah, I luckily bought two of the speakers before the price increase for $74.97 each. I put together one cabinet, and it was easy to do, and it sounded pretty good, so I built another.

I don't think that speaker was chosen because of weight, but rather because of the way that particular speaker performed in that cabinet.

I've been following this for some time now (thanks to all). I've tried messing with WINISD but there seems to be many more parameters than are usually available. I was trying several other PE drivers to see if I could figure out an inexpensive alternative driver without success since I don't understand WINISD.

My bass amp needs are quite modest but I'm thinking that a nice 1x10 8 ohm cab with the 75w amp I have could be built again when I get a real bass amp (4 ohm/200w).

Any ideas?

BTW, who sells the Eden EX110? I cannot seem to find them on The Net. Are they special order?

Model to your heart's content. I like 1.25 ft^3 and about 55 Hz tuning, but of course the cab Duke recommended is the whole point of this thread.

I've had a bit of trouble finding any other Eminence 10 I wanted to use as a woofer in a bass cab. I'm sure there's something out there, but I like what the S2010 looks like in WinISD and I really like what it does in my little 1973 Traynor BassMate practice amp.

That's correct, at the time the Basslite S2010 seemed like the most promising reasonably-priced option for that particular off-the-shelf, inexpensive car subwoofer box. It's hard to find a 10" ceramic woofer that's not going to be boomy in a vented box that small.

Duke,
First let me say thanks for the original posting. As a builder of my own speaker cabs, I was very interested in this thread. However, I'll apologize now for repeating something or missing something... I got to page 10 of the thread and fell asleep. So, I jumped to the end and decided to post.

Over four years ago I bought 4 of the 12" ported cabs from PE. I installed an Eminence Delta Pro 12A in each, stuck grills on the front, put jack plates on in each, lined them with 1.5" poly fiber, added handles and corners, and away I went. I've used them ever since. Sound just fine. About 2 years ago I bought 2 Eminence 3012LF speakers and put them into 2 of these cabs. My typical bass rig is, then, 2 of the boxes with the Delta Pro 12A speakers and 2 boxes with the 3012LF speakers. Awesome. I drive them with a Carvin BX500 (which I've had since it was first released and it works great... and into a 2 ohm load). Anyway, these cabs are a terrific match for the 3012LF as Duke said. I will admit that I don't baby the cabs and they are all still in one piece and keep pumping out the bottom end. I did add 2 LeSon piezo tweeters to one of the cabs (w/ Delta Pro 12A) that are crossed over at 3kHz. I installed an on-off toggle switch. I never use the tweeters because the Delta Pro 12A speakers give me enough top end. (I use Warrior basses which deliver a lot of top end if you want it).

Anyway, just thought I'd chime in on this posting since I've done the PE pre-made cabinet thing. I've included a photo. The top two cabs have the Delta Pros in them and the bottom two have the 3012LFs in them.

Thanks Kraigo!

I may use this as a template with other speakers to learn how it works. I would not mind a heavier cab if I can use an inexpensive driver.
