Low Down Sound Club, Part Four

It arrived! I'm so happy with the way it turned out. Don does incredible work. It's exactly what I wanted to a T. No gripes at all. Sounds incredible. Front ported 215 with Faital neos. Vintage-modern take on a Hiwatt 215. I would order from LDS again any day.

Wow - nice cab!

Can you share specs? Also a pic without the grill?

Don is just a great guy to deal with. I had him build me a 12/6 a few years back.

Don is just a great guy to deal with. I had him build me a 12/6 a few years back.

Specs:
Me: "Hey Don can you make me a great sounding 215 that looks like a vintage Hiwatt but with the features of a modern build? Make sure it's 27 1/2" wide so it matches my head. Here's a pic of a Hi-Tone clone for reference."
Don: "Yes. Kappas or Faitals?"
Me: "Let's try the Faitals."

It's about 40 tall 27.5 wide 15.75 deep. I'm guessing it weighs between 60 and 70.

That's all the specs there are. Two vertical 15s with 4 ports. I probably won't pull the cover off to snap a pic. It's kinds of a pita.

Could you ask Don if he has any photos of your cabinet with the grille off?

Guys, what's with the photos with the grill off requests? Does it mean that much? If it's that important I'll find some time. It's black with two drivers and 4 ports, but yeah I guess I'll do it, if you tell me why lol?

It's not that important to me. I just like to see how the cab was designed, where the ports were placed, how big they are etc. You can learn a lot just by looking at a baffle.

Thread derail incoming: What's the 411 on your tube head? Looks B-15ish.
ya man. The idea is something between a SVT and B15. It's around 50-80watts, uses KT88 power tubes. He has built a handful of amps (mostly guitar) and is starting to get his brand off the ground. It, along with the LDS, are still fairly new to me, but they performed quite well at their first gig. I'm still trying to figure out how to dial in the mid driver on the cab, I think I may have had it too high.

Just got off the phone with Don. Haven't seen him since he left Detroit ten years ago, my tweeter is finally shot in my 210 he built for me about 15 years ago. He said he was still building cabs but had semi-retired for a while taking care of his wife with medical issues. He said he was back at it now. We talked gear for about 40 minutes, I miss the guy.

Gorgeous. This pretty much looks exactly like what I'm looking to build. Tell us more about it.
