So far, I have only tried my fretless Zon, briefly, and my '08 4003 with a '60s magnetic horseshoe pickup and scatterwound toaster in it, and TI Jazz Rounds on the bass. This things rocks. Even with the mid/high driver fully attenuated the Rick sounded fantastic through it using my F1 with the EQ flat and the VLE and VPF off. I need to try this with my Walter Woods Super for a different perspective on it's capabilities.

I can certainly see a 4-8 column or even a 8-8 with these great sounding Ciare 8" drivers.

I've probably asked before, but what are the specs and tone like on your 2x8 LDS cabs?

I am jonesing for a 2x8 lightweight double stack.

These are older, long throw (big rubber surround) normal magnet drivers.
The cabs are big, as you can see next to the UL.
Because of their size and porting, thye're quite deep sounding, perhpas even more so than the UL.
The cab wiyth the mid driver has two large circular rear ports, and is "pretty, and vintage," and doesn't have tons of top end to it; just enough for nice double bass tone, and a more vintage electric feel.
The cab with the front ports doesn't seem as deep as the rear ported one, but it's plenty. The selenium horn is clean, clear and has very extended high end; moreso than the UL410. I looove it.
The two stacked together are a formidable pair equal to any job I'd take the 410 to.

At ~45lbs per, they're not particularly light for their size, but Don apparently has now found neo 8's he likes.

One 2x8, paired with my 4x8+horn is just ridonkulous!
Use the mid driver on top for "more vintage," use the horn loaded one for killin' top end.
The 4x8 is quite heavy, heavier than the UL410, but it did come with casters.

My 286 cabinet weights about 50lbs. and is 27"h x 14"w x 15 3/4"d. These particular Neo drivers are actually pretty heavy duty and each one weights 9.68 lbs. The cab is very well built so the weight is not an issue for me.

Nice! If you want to continue to downsize, check out the amazing Sonic Turbotuners. They are actually more accurate than the Peterson, and half the cost and 1/3 the size. They make a pedal version with true strobe and true bypass (like the strobostomp, but again, smaller, much quicker tracking, and higher build quality/accuracy), and also an 'amp top' model with tilt back stand and mic input. Just FYI.

Enjoy that cab! It's a nice match with the F1 IMO!

Not to sidetrack with pedal suggestions but I use an Ibanez LU-20 - 1 cent accuracy, true bypass, for 40 bucks :)

Save your pennies and check out the Turbotuner.... massively more accurate, and I've never experienced tracking (even on the open B string) anywhere near this tuner. It is a quantum leap ahead of even the very nice Strobostomp.

I need to get one of those Turbo Tuners though I've been using my old trusty Boss TU-2 forever and when I really need accuracy I break out my TU-12. The TU-2 sucks for daylight gigs though.

Just watched the on line vid demo and it appears to blow the Strobo out of the water. If I glissed on my Strobo it'd freeze for a sec.

Is there anywhere else that you can buy the Turbo from for cheaper than the direct $129 price?

Only available direct, but IMO worth every single penny. I have the floor/stomp model and the 'sit on top' tilt back model... both great, depending on your needs (i.e., in-line operation with mute, or driven by a tuner out on your amp).

Happy New Year everyone (since we are getting close and Don won't be delivering any more cabs until the beginning of next year)! I've again totally enjoyed having the opportunity to try/test some of these cabs prior to shipping, and look forward to seeing what you guys come up with in 2010. I believe Don is soaking up the sun for a week or two in Phoenix over the Holiday, and will then be back at it late next week.

Have great New Year's Eve gigs everyone (I'll be in Kansas City playing a private party at the Intercontinental on the Plaza.... fancy!)

I plan on having Don make one of the 15/6's with tweeter for me next year:bassist:

I ordered a turbo tuner just before christmas when the website started functioning again. Haven't received it yet, but I am honestly very disappointed in the Peterson strobo flip that I've had for the past few years. It works well when it's plugged in in my practice room but it really is terrible when on batteries. I've used my TU2 for many years on gigs but always run it through the tuner out as it is not a true bypass and is more like a tone sucker.

I just got the TT ST-200, and I absolutely love it. It tracks way better than my TU-2 particularly on the B-string. My TU-2 would jump around no matter what I did, but the ST-200 catches the note instantly and doesn't jump around. I reset the intonation with the ST-200, and it seems extremely accurate now. Very happy.

To keep this thread on topic, I'm also quite happy with my LDS cab. ;)
