Happy New Year everyone (since we are getting close and Don won't be delivering any more cabs until the beginning of next year)! I've again totally enjoyed having the opportunity to try/test some of these cabs prior to shipping, and look forward to seeing what you guys come up with in 2010. I believe Don is soaking up the sun for a week or two in Phoenix over the Holiday, and will then be back at it late next week.

Have great New Year's Eve gigs everyone (I'll be in Kansas City playing a private party at the Intercontinental on the Plaza.... fancy!)

I plan on having Don make one of the 15/6's with tweeter for me next year

My SF works just fine on batteries. Strange that your does not.

The display starts to fade as the batteries get older and it's almost impossible to see the strobe. Actually this has happened with a number of batteries I've tried and other users have made similar comments on the forum...

I have seen that, but that is to be expected with low battery voltage.

My LDS 12/6 arrived yesterday and I'm very happy with the result. Same tone as the 15/6 but without the inherent "girth"; a good facsimile of the latter is easily added with EQ. The 12/6 is a bit more studio monitor-ish in sonic quality than the 15/6, and in a very good way. I'm especially liking my Tacoma Thunderchief acoustic bass guitar through the 12/6. It's a lighter, perfect compliment to the 15/6 for lower volume gigs, and adds extra umph for big (esp. outdoor) venues without PA support. Coupled together, these cabs sound like a dream. When stacked, the mid drivers are vertically aligned for optimum sound quality. Adding another 15/6 would definitely have been overkill. I'll post sound files later after I break in the 12/6 drivers.

I am repeating myself but Don's work screams quality and detail. He is building me a 1 x 12 as follows:

16 x 16 x 20, tuned to 55Khz, front ported.
Kappalite 3012HO
Selenium DT50

Our goal was to model a cab with more mid-punch. If I like the box (can't imagine why I wouldn't) we'll start number 2 w/o the horn. I'll power my little stack with my T'Funk 750. I hope everybody has a safe New Year!

Question for Ukiah or anyone else with an LDS 15/6 type box: how well can you hear yourself on stage with your amp reasonably flat (ie without cranking the mids)? I'm wondering because as a stand alone it makes for a low "stack".

Some of the LDS designs are a bit squat, but I'm sure the midrange driver helps with regards to dispersion.

This rig brings out the total Precision tone without having to search the knobs for it. I love every aspect of this set-up. I wish I would heal-up faster. I miss crankin' on this thing, and the live shows.

Here is the 2 x 8 with 6 'in line' cab.

This is the first radiating cab I've seen that I've felt a grumble of GAS from in months since I figured I'll probably wind up building myself some BFM Jack cabs.

I can verify that the cabinet sounds great! I can stand right near it and I can hear myself just fine.

I just recently bought an LDS 2x8 off another TB user. I cannot wait to get it and try it out, I'm a bit worried I'll need another cab to handle the low end. Are these full range 8's, he told me that he used it in a bi-amp system. I'm thinking I need a 12 or maybe even a 15 to get the low end I need. I'll get pics when it arrives.

The one with the La8CBMR's are a top cab, and should be crossed over for sure. You should definitely not run them full range.

I run mine full range. Mine has a different 8" drivers than Don's previous offering, though.
