Low End Jazz Megathread Part 2

I've done a good bit of gigging with my LEJ6 and let me just say that this thing flat out kills. I've done r&b gigs, heavy/hard rock/metal gigs, church gigs, folky recording sessions, you name it, and this bass just does it.

I had an opportunity to trade for a really nice MTD 635 recently and after trying out on gigs, it doesn't get it done everywhere. That said, I still would love an MTD for some gigs, but I need a different wood combo.

If anyone is looking for a bass that cuts through, sounds amazing, sits in a mix, sounds good solo, can adapt to any situation, and has action lower than you would believe, Low End basses need some serious looking into.

I know you guys know that already though...

quick video of band I'm in covering a song with our new singer:[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

This was her first show with a band, this is her first band, and she had tonsillitis and mono. She's a trooper though and has natural presence. I can't wait to do another show with her (we have one soon). She has tracked some vocals with me, and she can flat out sing. I'll post up some recordings soon, but back to the bass...even in a camera vid this bass is slaying. I couldn't believe how well it cut through when I was listening on my laptop speakers.

I'm intrigued by a lej 6. Are they 18 at the bridge? Do they do different sizes for spacing? I'm a Lull guy if I had to admit an allegiance :) but he has no interest in ever making a 6er.

My 6 is 19mm at the bridge and 33 inch scale. Absolutely kills. Piano- like sustain and punchy as hell!

I have an LEJ 7 that's 18 at the bridge. Yes, it's huge. And like triplelutz says, 19mm is standard for the sixers. However, I talked to Brian, and he's willing to do custom spacing.

On the 6 I can do any type of spacing, and on any number of strings for that matter. Since we actually do build everything custom options are not a problem. Dan's 5 on the right has a number of custom options Dan wanted including the pickguard, reversed headstock, quad coil setup on a 33" scale 5 string.

...and whatever Brian Builds will be as badass as the man himself.

What model LowEnd is that on the right? Is it an LEJ? What sort of pickguard is that? Looks like of like a Pedull Rapture pickguard to my eyes.

I call it a switchblade... (maybe the LEJ Switchblade, Brian?)

Dual Quad Coils
Reverse Headstock
Alder Body
Maple Neck/Fingerboard

I can do everything from a 60's Jazz, 70's jazz, P-Bass, MusicMan, Modern Jazz, even a Hofner vibe... It's the baddest studio bass ever.

I could deal with 33 and actually get into that maybe but 19 isn't gonna work for me on a 6. I don't like aircraft landing strip necks on a bass. :) 19 is fine for a 4 or 5 but I like tighter on a 6.

Tad from Blues Traveler had a 16mm 6 done in a 33, probably the narrowest I have done.

Thanks for your replies Brian. It's always great to have an owner respond on good ol TB. I haven't had a chance to play one of your basses yet, but I look forward to it someday. Jazz 6ers are hard to come by.
