I noticed on my JP-55OP that the output on the pickups is very low too. Have yet to do a full set up on it though but I did notice that when trying to raise the pickups that the covers were coming up but the pickups themselves weren't. Seems like I will need to put more foam under the pickups in order to get them higher.

i found it very interesting the differences between first impression and follow up. When you first did your unboxing video you seemed pretty positive about the Joe Dart 2. However I'm guessing after you've spent more time with it your opinion has become more negative of it. In contrast to your review of the Harley Benton JP-45OP which started off negative and then turned incredibly positive between unboxing/first impression and full review.

Thanks! It goes to say that first impressions are not only about the bass itself but the packaging, delivery, out of the box setup, presentation, and also the excitement of getting a new thing. Having no experience with the instrument, you're seeing it for the first time like I am and I have to be hyper aware of the instrument from an analysis perspective while also delivering this initial analysis on the spot (all my videos are unscripted). One must also take into account that the factory setup and strings may not always reflect an instruments true ability. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's a balancing act, with the full review being a lot more focused on ownership/living with an instrument over the initial thoughts of 'ooh shiny new thing'.

hey LEL. I have the Marquess in blue. mine came with pickups that don\t look like the ones on thoman or in any of the vids I saw. you can see the magnets. I was thinking maybe it is an upgrade or new version. Anyway it sounds real nice and seem to be hot pickups compared to some of my other basses I can have this bass on 2 on my fender 40 and it sound like its on 5. I still have a slight hmm with the jazz pickup but still a great bass for around 240.
