Lowest Priced New Basses Ever??

I spoke to someone at my local post office. He suspects, as we all do, that something was indeed shipped from China to Trenton NJ, and that wrong tracking number was given to me through ebay. He said that while something was indeed delivered, there's no picture, which is strange he said, because usually as a package passes through some post office everything is photographed. I asked if this suggests that someone might have hacked the system he said he doubted it, since they do have it marked as being delivered.... but I don't know. He agreed that yes, as far as the USPS is concerned they did their job and delivered a package addressed to NJ and it's really up to ebay at this point to refund us our money. I suspected as much.

But as to the question of whether or not this is fraud, or mail fraud, I'm leery of anyone claiming to know for sure one way or another until all the facts are in. We don't know enough to say.... if for example, these "small packet" shipments are drugs from China using ebay purchases as a front to get them into the states using the USPS, I'd say it might be. If nothing was actually shipped, sure, it's not. But without the facts, how can anyone here be sure of anything? Hence why there is still debate here.... not certainly, just discussion on the possibilities.

The small packages cost the same as a letter to deliver inside of China.. I have received items as low as $1.26 from China with free shipping.

(Not that I think Robhe has shipped anything at this point)

Same here. I order from FastTech all the time and shipping is never more than a dollar or so and is usually free. Sometimes the tracking info is pretty weird as well, which is why it's taken me 10 days or so to conclude we're not likely to receive what we paid for. Sometimes the scammers are doing things that don't readily make sense without being able to see the whole big picture. These guys really are pretty clever. They could probably make as much or more money if they spent the same amount of time on something honest:cool:.

People only get away with stuff like this if you allow them to. I just got off the phone with eBay, and requested an investigation, and also to shut down the seller's account, which would make for an automatic refund to all buyers with no need to file a claim. Will they do it??? Stay tuned. It would help if everyone picked up the phone and did the same thing.

Have you ever noticed that robhe8875 and Darrin Huff have never been spotted together?

Welcome to TalkBass! Unfortunate to have joined during this situation!

I'm off work tomorrow and plan to call eBay as well.

They're currently listed again by Robhe. I ordered mine a while back but it doesn't show any movement beyond March 2nd. Shows delivery as 4/6. I guess I have to wait until it doesn't show on 4/6 to contact ebay.
Meh, I'll pass. Nowadays for $17.99 I expect my imaginary bass to come with a free imaginary amplifier. Or at least a free unicorn.

This thread with the poll indicates 4 people actually got a bass for < $20. IDK....but refunds are going up.
eBay or less new Bass purchase status poll
No evidence that those 4 really got a bass. Probably just pullin' our collective chain as anyone who got one no doubt would post pics. As TB rules go, no pic no bass :) I know if I'd got one you'd be seeing my unboxing, first playing video ala, Dr. Cheese :)

I also thought what the heck and bought one. I'm having the same issue as most people here. Mine was sent to Yakima, WA in USA. I live in the UK. I've put in a claim so will see what happens. It seemed to cross the Pacific very quickly, about 4 days. When the tracking info said it was heading to San Francisco initially, I realised something was up. Then followed the tracking info up the West Coast to Spokane then Yakima I realised it wasn't happening. It was Robhe8875 I bought it from. I wonder what it was that got sent, who got it and if it had my name on it.

Just got home.

I told my boyfriend, he should have just left this thing out on the porch.

So, I feel a little bad as I just sent this message to the seller after opening a claim against him without seeing this new post:

So, my "bass" or package said delivered to Baltimore MD but, I live in Portland OR. So, the one coming from New Jersey should also not be expected as well, as with hundreds of other peoples? It seems you are running a scam, true?

Just a little bad but, not much as I should have said 99s of other peoples :)
