Lowest Priced New Basses Ever??

Have to say I cancelled my order. Some of the discussions at work about the CoronaVirus thing came to mind. It is reported that the virus lives on inanimate objects for up to 28 days (conditions permitting). I don't know that I need a basically free chinese bass that desperately that I'm willing to endure that possibility.

It is a bit spooky, but I have read a few credible article that discount any real threat from contracting the virus from a package. With all of the stuff shipped directly from china to people in the US -- like iPhones - if this were any real threat at all we would already know about it and we would not be allowed to get items directly from China.

No, You Won't Catch The New Coronavirus Via Packages Or Mail From China

today they're $14! next year they may be $150!

on disease:
"It’s a legitimate question — especially in California — because we import so many products from China. But U.S. health officials said on Monday that there is no evidence to support the transmission of the new coronavirus through imported goods. “In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures"..."

on political/consumerism/etc.
i'm apolitical on retirement income: i'm free to buy anything i can afford. :D

on cheap:
the chinese do cheap better than anyone else. i bought the $14 blu one yesterday, on a lark, but my previous purchase of the glarry ax turned out to be a wise one! for those who are into modding and tinkering = these things are a great deal! here's where i took my glarry (different neck --- also chinese!):
front2.jpg
this ax weighs 6.2 lbs, plays like a dream, yada yada --- it's crazy good! i'm an advocate of great axes for cheap. i've played them all, love them all, etc., but creating an ax from/for pennies (compared to comparable off-the-rack, special orders, or even custom-built bolt-ons) is a hoot. i've gigged with that modified P and the only reason it's not my #1 is that i prefer PJs for gigs...but that ax is killer! (and it's fun because of the low weight!)

however, if you want to open a box, take out an instrument, and rush to your rehearsal = you'll likely be disappointed. they all need setups, of course, and possibly other kinds of attention depending on your goals/tolerances.

anyway, you can see what others have done to these uber lightweight cheapies in order to get good-to-great, customized, playable axes for pennies! check out the goodness here:
Official Exquisite/Glarry/Burning Fire Bass Club?

good luck to those of you who are taking advantage!

to those who 'take a pass' = sorry you're missing out! :dead:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] I mean... hard to resist anything described as "it looks nacreous and brilliant" :)

I had to look up Nacreous

Adj. 1. nacreous - consisting of or resembling mother-of-pearl. 2. nacreous - having a play of lustrous rainbow colors; "an iridescent oil slick"; "nacreous (or pearlescent) clouds looking like mother-of-pearl"; "a milky opalescent (or opaline) luster"

i bought the glarry fretless when they were first listed, just to see what it was: $89 IIRC.
i bought the maple neck for about $65.
the hardware/electroncs i used was pricey: schaller bridge, gotoh machines, dimarzio pups, knobs, string tree, etc.

I got a burlywood (whatever that is) p model. After a neck tweak & action lowered & a string change it isn't bad. I did two sets Saturday with it. Wouldn't be my main player but it sounded ok.
Didn't get it for $17.99 though.Waiting for some gig money & I'll snag a couple more. Hope they are still some left by Sunday.

You’re missing my point. I have absolutely no problem with inexpensive “cheaply made” imported musical instruments. The problem I have is purchasing a no-name directly from China. At the very least purchase it from an American shop.

I'm not sure I see what the difference is? Just so an American can make a buck off the sale?

I bet you $15 I do. When I win, I'll buy you one with the proceeds ;)

Sure...and when I win, I'll let you keep your $15 as a 'make-up for getting scammed on eBay' present. The good news is eBay should at least refund you your original $15.

But I've seen this many a time on eBay. Chinese eBay account, does legit business long enough to get eBay not to withhold funds, offers up a ridiculous deal to get a ton of people to buy, then makes off with the money. Why would anyone legitimately sell and ship a bass that cheap? If you look at their feedback, there are none for $15 basses. But soon you will start to see lots of negative ones start pouring in.

I won't be surprised if we never get these. I'm sure between eBay and PayPal I can get my $14.00 refunded though.

This region in China produces 6 million guitars a year!
Probably made too many, can't move them with the corona issue, are out of room and need to dump them cheap or trash them.

I think that everyone got their basses from this same seller before. I ordered the green ST guitar.

At worst it's a scam, but it's no big deal to file a case with ebay if it doesn't show up.
