Mackie DL1608 in the house!

I'm completely new to running through the house system and the high pass was set that high because it sounded muddy at any level beneath that. I'm gonna experiment with what you said and see if it helps. Thanks for the great feedback.
it is impossible to tell what to do given the limited information you've provided us. People are throwing out advice based on experience and typical "best practices", and it's all good advice. However, unless you can tell us every little last bit of how your sound is getting from your bass to the mixer, and then from the mixer to your PA system, then these are just educated guesses at best. I will say that your settings are indicative of a probable flaw somewhere in the signal chain, whether that is before the mixer or after the mixer is anyone's guess.
I'm using a Ibanez Prestige 5 string bass and a line out of my Ampeg SVT 3pro to the house. Everything pretty much flat on bass and amp. The church we play varies but normally a around 100-250 people. The house system uses 2 QSC 1000 watt 15's and 2 18' QSC subs. Very good system and pretty much new. Does this help?
I would use the modern view first off, you have 4 PEQ's, LPF, HPF, and can adjust the Q individually. Then, what I did was use the Mackie preset for bass. Then using head phones, adjust the above settings until it sounds like it does coming out of my bass cabinet. Final tweak with the FOH at volume.
I'm definitely gonna mess with the settings and drop the high pass all the way down to 50 and then off and see what sounds best.
yeah, but jimfist is right; high-passing the bass wouldn't sound remotely right unless something else in the signal chain was way out of whack, like too much low end boost from something else.
Man, it's like I just bought a whole new mixer. I'm glad I've got a week before my next show to get acquainted with the new layout of the auxes and subs and all.
Love the updates, especially since I took a pass on updating to Master Fade v2. When I scoured the documentation for the new features, I said "screw it" and updated both of my iPad 2s to OS 8, Master Fade v3 and latest firmware for the mixing board. So far so good!

Yup! I'm lucky to work with some very talented singers who have excellent mic technique and strong voices. I can get away just nipping away a tiny bit at the edges with channel compression, triggering only during the loudest of vocal passages.
The pre/post processor switching in the Aux Sends is an important feature, but not one that ever gave me a lot of stress. The bigger to-do for me is the added channel trim controls, subgroups with output EQ/Compression, the VCA groups, the layout schemes, mute groups, and the ability to email or dropbox the "shows/shapshots"...among many others. IMO, v2 MasterFader was a nice update that addressed some immediate issues, but v3 really got down to brass tacks with improving the feature set.

Apparently I have some auto update thing turned on because when I fired up for last night's gig, there was MF 3.0 telling me that it needed to update the firmware on my board and that it would take at least 15 min or so and that I should be sure to back up all my on board shows, continue, yes/no... No choice for saying no, I'd prefer to use MF 2.0 ... I was not a happy camper. After 30 min messing about I found the secret handshake. Group of 3 buttons on the left of the button bar - that strip at the top, 1 kinda looks EQ'ish, 1 kinda looks like a fader. Pressing the fader'ish one got me the channel strips view after I lost it.
Press the Mix button (normally says LR) then A1. Got me to my monitor faders ... Whew... And the show goes on..
The Ui is similar but different. My main show at least came accross and the additional new stuff didn't mess with it. I downloaded the reference doc while waiting for a flight this morning. Read the release notes - which reference the appropriate sections of the reference guide on the flight. I read a lot of documentation. I write a fair amount of procedural material. I have to say that they documented this pretty well if it is all correct.
MF 3.0 does look like a significant enhancement. Not sure it's a big deal on my 806 - like I need sub groups AND VCA on and 8 channel board ;-) It could lean me towards the DL-32 though...
Do yo' self a favor, either seek and destroy the auto-update thing or download MF 3.0 and play with it now, like tonight. Doing this for the first time, on the job put a certain edge on the first set... Thank The Lord this was my band, Willie & Nelson and not a sound company date... What doesn't kill us...

Worth noting- the new update won't run on an iPad one. I either do without the update or get a newer iPad to dedicate to the mixer.
My original iPad was barely functional on MF2, it's worth upgrading for anyone using even an ipad2 at this point. Lots of deals out there on last year's iPad Air, which is a solid piece of hardware.
Do most of you keep a dedicated ipad for use with your DL's? I've never run into an issue using my "personal use," lacking a better phrase, iPad also as my mixer, saving shows and settings, and I don't hesitate to apply an iOS or MF update.
