Mackie DL1608 in the house!

Uh Scott, what I'm wondering is how you're going to play bass, sing, mix, do lights AND have fun. Seriously man delegate the lights to someone else... Otherwise you run the risk of making it stressful and no fun and that is a very bad move...

That or just put the lights on set and forget.

You are correct... Neither do I. Unless I find someone else to take a job. FAT Chance... I don't trust many folks to run our sound, being an old sound guy myself. Lighting, I was hoping to either program some chase sequences and tap in the tempo and push play or possibly some kind of mic/automation thing. The others seem to just want to show up, set up and play. If I don't do it, nobody else is going to. My cross to bear...

Get yourself one of these - http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/iklip2/ - and your ipad will be right there in your face while you're playing bass and singing. Lights? Outside of my practice!

GREAT IDEA! Thank You! Found it on Ebay for $7.30. Perfect. I was wondering how I was gonna have the ipad next to me.

OK... On a side note. I'm trying to get the Airplay to work. I can get it to work... sometimes. Other's, the ipad will show the Airport. I click on it. Bring up Itunes. Select a song and minimize. Once I push Master Fader, the Airplay option disappears and reverts to the Ipad speakers. Anybody got any suggestions. Ipad up to date.

I ran the show with Ipad docked. I'm not comfortable with the wireless part yet. Anyways, I noticed it RESync'ed several times. Anybody have a clue as to why? Nothing changed. I can understand IF I had changed to iTunes and back again but...? I was just sitting there when it would decide that it needed to reSync. Yea... Dunno.

Good question. But that can't be normal.. I only see it these days when connecting the first time or returning from iTunes. If it did it tome while I was reaching for a fader I would be concerned...

Did your iPad connect to some other network ? Or did you have the wifi off on the iPad... My iPad wifi on the DL-806 is off by default. If I hook up the router, I turn it on. I also now shut the iPad off as opposed to putting it to sleep at the end of a gig. I don't want it connecting to my LAN at home and downloading any updates on it's own. I got Master Fader 3.0 that way and while I got through it, it was a nasty suprise just before live time...

I have an iPad 2 dedicated to master fader and on a couple of occasions, when I did not start from power on, just the iPad waking up in the cradle, I received the message 'this accessory not supported' or some thing like that. The iPad couldn't find the wired DL-806. Only the router. It was good to have the wifi and router along for the riser on those occasions so I highly suggest getting your wireless sorted out.

Advice I got here at the time was a full power off/on at the iPad and yep. That seems to solve it. Which is another reason I have adopted the full power off/on approach.

This time of year my band has a standing every other Friday night restaurant / lounge gig. We're in over 3 yrs on it and it's a great gig for us. Things are thin when the tourists aren't here... We take 20 to 30 min to setup - it is highly dialed after all this time. So getting iPad weirdness before one of those is dramatic and nerve wracking...

Thank You. I did not think of that. Yes, I think my wireless was on AND we were in a Coffee Shop so... you know their wireless was on. Next time I'll turn it off and we'll see hao it goes. Otherwise, it was a fairly smooth show.

I did and was switching back and forth from iTunes to MF and fully expected it to Sync then.

We normally have a sound guy with a Behringer x32 but tomorrow we have to play a show using our guitarist's DL1608. We haven't used it since early last year.
I see the latest version of Master Fader is 3.0.1 - but on Mackie's site it says it's not compatible with My Fader 2.0 (I just downloaded it and My Fader is v 2.1.1) - and the new version of My Fader isn't out yet. I just asked our guitarist to check and his iPad must have automatically updated to Master Fader v 3.0.1 How do we make sure we can control our IEM mixes from our iPhones? Is it possible to load Master Fader on an iPhone? :help:

I don't notice a resync unless I come back from another app. But sometimes the whole thing will freeze and the only way to get it back is to exit masterfader by double clicking the home button and swiping it off and then restarting the app. The mixer continues to work in whatever state it was in but none of the controls work until the app is restarted.

Incidentally, after two years, mine quit working one day. I had bought the extended warranty, which I never do but thought it might be a good idea since the tech was new and MF gave me a decent discount. Took a few weeks and they replaced the mother board and power supply. I'm back in business but with the new update and repair it's lost some of my saved shows. Some of the older ones are there but not some recent ones. Kind of weird.

So tomorrow I'm going to start from scratch and set up a show for the oldies group. Vdrums, bass, guitar, sax, flute, keys, acoustic and 7 vocal mics. Going to try make use of the new group feature.

nope!

unless he can stop the DL from updating to 3.0 from the ipad when he plugs it in, you're not gonna have iphone control.

...or forego the Air tray and work all wireless! Live dangerously like me. :smug:
i've had good luck with the cablejive extender cable, so i can leave the ipad in a nice safe case and just lay it on the mixer.

makes yanking it off to go wireless that much easier, too; i frankly wish they had skipped the whole "docking" thing and put a USB jack in so you could use a regular old sync cable to run the thing. that would have very much future-proofed the mixer too.
