Mad Professor Bass OD???

fitz420 said:
hey ry, you should take a note and start pre-hyping your 2014 jawns.

Yeah, announce now, but have them come out then. Hahaha. I mean, I did put up sound clips...maybe I'll just not do anything with them for a couple of years.

Maybe it's just talkbass that makes this pedal seem more wanted/mysterious. Like maybe they'll only sell 50 units...all to tb'ers. ;)

Everyone who's jonesing hard for one of these is going to be majorly disappointed. As an owner of a BBBOD I can tell you for sure that its just a nice bass OD, its not gonna suddenly turn you into Jack Bruce or make magic notes come out of your fingers. Save yourself $19 and get a Dark Driving! :)

Well, I'd sure be happy to buy your 3BOD then, if it's not that big a deal to you. :ninja: ;)

Ridiculous? Its not Bjorn's fault everybody here has been chomping at the bit. :hyper:

Maybe not, but repeated delays tend to get people frustrated regardless of the problem, and there comes a point where they'll start losing customers. Maybe they already have, maybe they don't care. I agree with Colonel's post above... they already had the circuit, so what's the hangup that's delayed it this long? The only thing I can think is that it just isn't high on their priority list.

Sure, but cos the MP pedals been delayed the price went up.....a lot! :D

I'd imagine its probably not high on their list. How many of these do you think they'd sell. The BBBOD only sold what, 100 or so pedals. So its not like they are going to move thousands of these things. Outside of specialised bass forums, most people have probably never even heard of the BBBOD. That said, i'll probably buy one when it comes out. I have a disease like that :bawl:

I really have to LOL at people getting mad about waiting for a new product. It's true, manufacturers love having their anticipated wares being delayed, it's all part of their master plan to frustrate everyone toward the point of anger!

Anyhow, I played the Mad Professor Blueberry at NAMM. I'm not even going to share my comments about it because I too enjoy making people wait. That's part of my master plan.

Listen here Bub. :D

1) I already AM Jack Bruce :bassist:
2) Magic Notes DO come out of my fingers :bassist:
3) I never, ever, drive at night. :ninja:

I have followed the Blueberry for a berry long time. I've listened to the clips. I was on the waiting lists when it was announced like 5 years ago that MP was gonna make one. I'm no stranger to shelling out ridiculous 100s of dollars for a dirt pedal (mammoth anyone?). :help:

I just want my opportunity to play one. You're prolly right, the only reason this is so hyped is because we can't get our bleeping hands on one. :spit:

If it doesn't rock, I'm blowing it up. :hiding:

If you're willing to sell it, shoot me an offer and we'll see what happens. I'm not saying I'll pay a ridiculous price for it, but I AM interested. You don't sound like you're that into any more, and I definitely want to try one. ;)

The BBBOD only sold a hundred (or whayever the actual number is) because Bjorn only makes them in batches of 10. He'd sell more if he made more.

Amen. I owned it and wasn't really impressed enough for its hype.

jeez, didnt mean to sound mad. im not mad, just frustrated a bit by continuing to push the date back. i cant imagine what could be hanging it up, thats all. its a pretty simple circuit, right. ill probably still buy one asap, although my dark driving has made it less important.

Right. not mad but definitely annoyed. Every time my subscription to this thread comes up I'm expecting it's finally ready.

I'm just kinda over it already.

And on second thought, I'm kinda digging the clips I heard of the dark driving - sounds killer. If I can get my mitts on one then well, maybe MP loses some market share.

BTW, not sure I agree with the assessment that it's a low priority for Mad Professor because only 100 BBODs were sold - there were only 100 (or whatever) sold because they weren't available for people to buy! There's a huge difference between that and market saturation where everyone who wants one has one. I don't know how big the market is, but I'm guessing over time they could easily sell 10X that number.

Certainly with the hype that the Blueberry has received here coupled with a reasonable price they'll sell quite a few. I don't see what would stop their market share from expanding quite a bit if they can just come up with the supply side.

I am pretty curious as to what your thoughts on it were. That info is relevant to what I'm curious about and is better than reading about people complaining. So if you don't mind, what were your impressions?

thanks!

Haha, no, its not really up for sale. I probably wasn't clear in what I was saying, but I have a way of showing it more clearly. Basically, the BBBOD is an excellent bass overdrive (one of the best IMO), but its not without peers that are its equal. More importantly though, its just a pedal. It won't be the end to anyone's GAS. It won't make anyone play better (as I will demonstrate! :) ) and it won;t be the last OD you buy. For that reason, I genuinely believe that anyone who is frothing for one (or this MP version) will be disappointed when they get it in their hands. Their first reaction will be "this is what the hype is all about?" Lets face it, these things are rare as hens teeth and part of the GAS, part of the mystique, it that "you" can't get one (by "you" I mean the bass playing public in general).

Anyway - here is some clips of my dirt pedals with the BJFE included: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=733301

For sure he could sell more, but how may more? I'm not so sure. I doubt it would be more than another 100. TB effects is fairly unrepsentative of the bass playing and guitar playing world in general. If it was, Tech 21 would be one of the biggest companies in the USA as every bass player would own a VT bass! :D
