I have a BBBOD and can probably puck one up to compare the two. That said not sure what difference it will make cos if you dig the original better they are still pretty difficult and expensive to come by. Might as well just enjoy the new one for what it is.

It'll be interesting to hear the comparison.

I've got a couple overdrives that I really really like, but I just can't consider my search for "the Perfect Overdrive" truly over until I at least try a BBBOD. I've been emailing Custom Sound, but it's a little frustrating dealing with a middle man. I might have to turn to what elusive used market there is. :hmm:

Don't worry, I'll definitely enjoy the MP version in the meantime. :)

TBH the FEA Dual Band, the Fuzzrocious Dark Driving (although it only has "the BBBOD sound", not the full range of tones) and the SFX Micro Black Dragon are three other dirt pedals I own that are all cablable of getting 99% of that BBBOD sound. I kind of the think of the BBBOD like a Walter Woods Ultra - for a long time it was the only game in town for that sound, but now there are other cheaper options that get you pretty damn close to what it does without the price.

Ahh, but I'm not after "pretty damn close." ;)

I do realize my desire for the BBBOD is somewhat irrational, given other pedals on the market these days. But beyond the sound, there's just something about having an actual BBBOD, you know? Rational thought hasn't entirely left me though... the MP version will tell me if I should keep pursuing the BJFE. :)

Supposedly, according to Custom Sound, I'm at the top of the list for a 3BOD in the event that one ever gets made and delivered to Custom Sound. I was put on the list over 2 years ago and as of last year, supposedly, I was next in line.

But, who knows with middle men and BJF... I'm not holding my breath.

I would be very interested in hear clips comparing the two pedals, so thanks in advance to whoever does that.

I'm on a list too, but I'm not holding my breath either. Wonder why Bjorn doesn't make more if he knows the demand is that high? Course, maybe that's WHY he doesn't make more... :hmm:

It can do the whole thick blanket over the amp thing. Even with the tone up, theres still a steep treble roll off.
