Made in Japan Precision

I had a MIJ P bass copy very much like that in the late 60s. It's a long time ago but I seem to remember the tuners and neckplate were like those.

It played ok, I used it for a quite a few gigs but being young and knowing everything didn't realise that the truss rod nut was bottomed out and snapped the truss rod while trying to get the action lower. I sold it to another kid (who knew everything) who thought he could repair it.

I seem to recall the pickups being a bit weak, or thinking about it now they may have been a bit low. I got a real Fender P to replace it so had a direct comparison.

I don't think this bass would be better than the Jackson you purchased.
Well I am happy with Jackson. Not so heavy, feels great, pickups are a bit more mid focused but turning bass knob a bit fixes "problem" (well for metal I dont like mids, but are good for Serbian folk music), it's just that it doesn't have Fender logo on headstock. I am still not playing anything seriously, but i believe Jackson will be first pick for gigs due to thieves. They like Fenders :)
