No, man--it's all good. It would sound hokey to me, too. These guys did measure spl at different locations and it jives. Production will likely be within the next 3 months for the bass stuff.
I wish I could talk about the technology. Soon, I hope.

It's all moot until I see if they function well on a gig. I'm playing a loud gig on electric tomorrow. I'll pretty much know for sure then.

And by the way---I didn't mean to dis Bill. He really holds a place in the legacy of pro sound speaker design. He was just very dogmatic about anything different than his perceptions. But I have learned a lot from him.

All good. "Loud with an electric bass" pretty much will let you know what's what. Loud with an upright would uncover pretty much any "issues".

Never heard him play but heard the same. He showed us the bass he built for himself though...pretty cool, if a little modern for my tastes. Looks sort of like a Stanley Clarke Sidewinder. Can't read music, though...made me feel pretty good to have one knowledge base at a higher level than his

Wwaaayyyy more modern for my tastes but what do you expect from an engineer?. Prolly has all kinda vibrations and resonances all figured out. I'm comfortable with my treestump Fender. I don't want something that feels like those peoples houses you walk into and you feel like you shouldn't sit down on anything.

Oh--and my home listening speakers are Innersound Eros electrostatics. They have a woofer in a transmission line. I love electrostatics. They are technology developed in the 40's and 50's.

TL bass and electrostatic mids and highs.... sounds like audio heaven for hi fi

Bill is an engineer, a scientist. Science is good testable theory, and actual experiments and measurements. I'll wait for the evidence.

BFM has probably designed more implementations of these milestones than most here could list. All of us have likely used his designs at some point, maybe without even realizing. Yet the uneducated masses insist on arguing on the basis of some anecdotes, thereby broadcasting their ignorance for the world to see, and tar and feathering the one trying to enlighten us. Thanks.

Just to be clear BFM "designs" are a rehash of folded horn technology from the 1940's early 50's adding tweeter arrays. That is what he "seems" to believe is the only design that is valid. It is also close to the oldest loud speaker design from the days of very low wattage amps.

Yes the high voltage from the tube plates ran down to a speaker mounted output transformer. OT's secondary leads were wired directly to the speaker.
