That would appear to have happened in every case of butthurt I can think of. I'm not too surprised, science and engineering expertise is often under-appreciated, and musicians are a colourful, passionate bunch!:hyper:

Interesting study someone posted on TB a few days ago...famous study called the "Dunning-Kruger Effect" which shows that the truly ignorant are much more sure of their intelligence than the truly intelligent

is not it but enough for now...
If one is intellectually honest, it's hard to not be humble. Ignorance is tragic, but being unable to asses one's inevitable weaknesses is catastrophic.
The double blind standard and peer review are the 'gold standard' for a reason.

I'd say a major landmark was the creation of JBL's D, K, and E series of 130s and 140s (granted there were other speakers in the series, those are just the main ones for bass). Briliant speakers. Sure, modern speakers have far higher power handling, but A) it is a a sacrifice of efficiency and tone, and B) who NEEDS that much power in a single speaker, in general. But I digress, I just think JBLs are super swell. ;)

Most of you may not agree but I do not miss BFM. I've had some arguments with him. I will not get into detail.
Though he has lots of knowledge he does not know everything about every aspect about speakerdesign (neither do I). I know a thing or two too....

About milestones, there are lot's of 'm. The last 15 years or so I would consider the following as milestones :
-stiff cones made from ceramic, magnesium, beryllium
-woofers with large xmax and small Vas
-DSP

Maybe one can add simulating software, not only to calculate enclosures but also to simulate a whole loudspeakersystem. Some of these programs like the freeware Boxsim are capable of simulating a three or four way system including the crossover and how the whole enclosure geometry interacts with individual loudspeakers responses.

I don't completely agree. BFM could be curt, opinionated, right more than wrong (which he would never admit or own), but he did contribute a lot of good knowledge and often humor. He is a person after all? He placed me in a very special group (called ignore) so he can't see this. Too bad, men have to learn how to deal with disappointment. :) I had discussions with BFM not fights or arguments. ;)

Maybe he put me also in that group....hahah.
Well, I did send him a PM once, just to talk about some "communication issues" , never got a response back, a missed oppertunity for him.
