The single most resonant part of the bass apart from the strings.Neck. People always forget the neck when it comes to tone discussions. A good, stiff neck generates punchy tone.
But someone less lazt than me could combine the results for an average.Yes, we could EACH make a pie chart. No, we can't ALL make ONE piece chart together.
My crappiest basses, the ones I get rid of, always have had one thing in common: a neck I could bend with gentle pressure. OLD Squiers, skinny necked Soundgears in 200 and 300 series, etc.The single most resonant part of the bass apart from the strings.
free market, Fender wasn't the only one who wanted to make a living building bass guitars.why do we have so many basses available?
Are you saying tone is in the pedals? Check this video out. It is absolutely hilarious. Seen it several times and am still laughing my a$$ off right now.

There seems to be almost a consensus that neck material/construction makes no difference. Amazing. Here's my estimate. Not a strong advocate of the "tonewood" thing but I'm not a luthier, what do I know ?
Added the action as it matters a lot to me and I have experience with it.
Also added the frets, I think their impact is underestimated (see Lee Sklar) but again, no experience with this.View attachment 782497
Nah I agree, I should have included it, somewhere near "Strings" I think, definitely more than body / fretboard material. I think this is what you hear the most when you play a bass unplugged. There seems to be almost a consensus that neck material/construction makes no difference. Amazing.
Amen haha.
13% for the bridge and zero for neck material/construction?
