Actually witnessed an identical theft attempt at a GC here locally. Same thing...stuffed the neck down his pant leg but at least he wore a bigger jacket to hide the body. But all for naught...once the sensors went off as he was exiting he couldn't exactly run away with a guitar down his pants. When caught, the stoner just laughed it off like it was no big deal. :rollno:

Brazen theft is the new Thang. Seen videos of it happening where the crooks just walk out not even trying to hide the goods.
Yep...the newer laws here in California now say any theft under $980 is now considered a misdemeanor. If caught, they just get a ticket and are set free. Many of the large box stores in the San Francisco Bay area have now closed their doors as shop lifting losses are out of control.

The local constabulary are seeking this individual as well as the getaway driver after one man stuffed a $8000 Gibson Les Paul down the back of his pants and ran out of the store!
It should be relatively easy to identify the guitar as it"s a left handed version. Buddy has nuts to spare as the whole thing was caught on video.

Lol, I am always amazed by the ridiculously poor quality surveillance cameras that are used in places that have hundreds of thousands of dollars, or even millions of dollars worth of merchandise out in the open. Would have loved to see him get caught and try to run. Hope they catch him and he enjoys life as a felon.

Not exactly new. Danny Gatton lost a tele when a thief walked up on stage while the band was on break and stuffed Danny’s guitar neck down a leg of his bib overalls and casually walked out of the club.
