I think that is a good indication of where the prices are going to be for the next year, or so. MB simply produced too many, too quickly and at too low of a price-point for them to have retained the previously standard $450 resale value, not to mention providing an 'update' which naturally makes the earlier versions less valuable.
I agree, they can't demand too much on the used market... because when they first came out, they were priced very low, particularly against their direct competition. Did that low initial cost bother anyone?
