MarkBass CMD 121p speakon issue

When I sold my MB121 a couple years ago, it's SpeakOn connection became intermittent right before the sale. It hadn't been used in a while and somehow developed something on either one or both terminals... oxydation? schmutz? Hard to say, exactly.

It seems to be a bit picky about the origin of the SpeakOn plug. Are you using Neutrik or REAN-ended cables? Check with a light in there and see if there's anything like hair or dust bunnies blocking one of the "strips" that make contact. I got mine to clear up by inserting and removing my cable about a dozen times.

The jack plate itself is a fairly sturdy design.
Rean are internally identical to Neutrik, they are the same parts by the same company but with different global distribution.

I know. I just say and/or because a lot of people don't seem to realize they're the same. At one point, it seemed like Neutrik was putting the most current version of their connector out, and Rean was carrying the previous version, but it looks like that's not the case anymore. I guess due to stock volumes.

Some of this was driven by regulatory changes, flame spread of the materials is different in the current versions.

Could be the cable if by chance it's wired for pin set 2 on the Speakon.
Could be that combo connector Speakon contacts have been damage at some point.
What are the other amps and speakers?

I've never seen a Rean branded Speakon at least hear in the US.
Rean is more often used as an OEM connector in the US market (due to globalization).
