Yeah, I have used it with the 48v phantom power mod (not really a mod, you just had to connect a jumper on the earlier version to get the phantom power connected) and it works great. The combo jack is also the 500k impedance "electric" channel and it sounds better with electric bass than the 4meg input (500k = same as the LMII).

Whoa. That's interesting. Do you know - can this phantom power mod be done on the LMII in the same way? Also when you say "it works great," do you mean from a technical point of view, or the sound? How does it sound?

I'm fairly certain the "mod" it isn't available on the LMII. It is described in the manual for the AC101 (on the Markbass site).

It works great = sounds good with plenty of output. I have a hard time saying characterizing the sound of the mic channel because I don't use a mic often so I don't have alot of reference points for the way a mic channel sounds. It just sounds like a mic to me.

The new Mark Acoustic head will apparently have the phantom power without the necessity of the "mod" and a notch filter, which should both be a big bonus for mic users.

Thanks for your comments. As long as it doesn't sound strange, excessively boomy or whatever, that should be good news. I guess we'll just have to wait and see when these new ones will be out and check them out then....

I did finally get around to trying one of these...

I happy to say that testing today with a little jazz trio was very positive.

For reference, I most typically use either my Walkabout Scout (dark sounding, but niiiice) or a Walkabout head with an LDS 2x8+horn (represents string and finger noise much more, if that's important to you. I like that more modern sound, sometimes, for some things.

Using the F1 and LDS 2x8+horn worked very, very well.
I use a bassmax pickup and K&K two band preamp (set flat). While I spent some time tweaking the F! around for my own education, I ended up with bass cut just a bit, and the VPF at about 1/2 (50%). This kept a nice clear top end, pushed a little low end back in, and scooped out some of the mids that can be feedback-prone.


Very nice. Very compact. Quite loud enough for any DB situation I'd find myself in.

I love the LMII for DB, haven't tried the F1 yet though.

Very interested in the new acoustic Markbass head mentioned above.

Markbass should add a sweepable lo-cut and phase switch to that one if they haven't already.
