Markbass Megathread PART 3

I dont know about last 121H in the country. I just ordered an LMII and 2 121H cabs on wed. They have 16 unsold in the computer at the distribution center.

When the guy looked it up he kept paging through screen after screen of 0 quantity. Two days ago Peter (the Markbass rep) said there were only three in the GC system and this morning there was just one.

Don't know how their whole system works, maybe there are more stuffed in a warehouse somewhere...

Depends on the GC I suppose.
It's not supposed to.

The manager at my local GC sold an F1 to my friend at 20% off $850 = $680. How cool was that? He shot, he scored!
Yes that included the non removeable Performance Warranty.
He benefitted from a glitch in their system then. Yeah that was a score! :)

Hi everyone, I don't know if my question has been answered but I started looking and when I found there was over 1000 posts I got overwhelmed! Anyway, here goes! Have to get a new amp cos my own is starting to wind down! I had an ebs mark 1 preamp and inkel poweramp(not great!). Was looking at the MARKBASS LITTLE MARK II, and it looks perfect for me. Now (to my shame) I know nothing about ohms or anything! I would be looking to use this with an old peavey 4x10 cab and on smaller gigs a gk 2x10. Would it be ok with those? Also, I do a lot of freelance work, and usually the players that I'm subbing for will leave a cab for me(usually a 2x10) could I just bring the LMII with me or do i need a power amp? Sorry if these questions seem dumb! Thanks in advance

As long as you never use more than two 8 ohm cabs OR one 4 ohm cab with it, you're fine. You don't mention what impedance you cabs are, but if both are 8 ohm cabs, you can use either one, or both together.

I just decided to take the MB plunge. Here's my new rig:

Yes. The LM II is a head with preamp and poweramp both in one unit. Just plug into the speaker cabinet and play.

Bought the CMD121P combo at the 20% .... couldn't believe that I stood in that mess at GC, but it was worth it .....

I used the amp on Friday and Saturday night. Friday was a restaurant gig, Saturday was a wedding on a paddle boat (cool setting for a wedding!!), neither one was a big volume venue. But that little amp could have easily carried a much larger setting ..... :hyper:

Too soon for glowing reviews, but my 1st impression is, well, WOW !!!! :bassist:  :D I need to hear it in other settings, but I am amazed at what it was putting out .....

Lousy pic, but here is the required photo proof .... you can see the yellow love at the bottom, and yes, it is that small ...

Any advise guys. It would be greatly appreciated.

I'm very sorry to hear that there's still confusion about the included Performance Guarantee on Markbass products at GC.

This is the ONLY product line at GC (and as you all know, there are many!) to which this applies, so it was bound to cause some problems.

If any of you have issues with this, and can't work it out with your local GC, please contact Brian Harsh at Guitar Center (bharsh @ guitarcenter.com) and he will help you out promptly!

Cheers,
Peter

I just posted this in the DI thread but I got my MB LMII home finally and plugged it in. The speakon output will not work. Works fine with my SM500. Then I was playing it for about 10 minutes using the 1/4" output into my GK Neo 112. It suddenly just conked out. The light was still on but no sound. Tried the SM500 again just to make sure it's the head and it is. Then I turned it back on and it played for about 30 seconds and went out again. I'm very disappointed since there is no Guitar Center in Waco. Looks like I'll be headed back to the Austin location and requesting an exchange for a new one ASAP. Problem is that ASAP will not be until possibly this weekend at the earliest and possibly three weeks from now at the latest. :(

Please get in touch with Brian Harsh (see above post) for assistance. He will respond quickly.

Best,
Peter

im really enjoying my LMII, but one thing that's bugging me is a problem i keep running into. i move around just a bit while playing, meaning that my instrument cable moves as well. a few times during rehearsals and such, the LMII make a sharp and loud beep/chirp sound before getting a bunch of increasingly loud feedback. i turned it off and back on, and everything was fine again.

i doubt it's the cable, as i changed through 3 different cables. (never had this problem playing through a GK head either)

but asides from that, the LMII surprised me with what it's capable of doing (in a good way).

That don't seem right. Just for giggles and troubleshooting, have you tried a different bass also? Maybe the input is bad on the LMII or the input on the bass, maybe a dead battery (active bass?).

You mean I should get in touch with him rather than just taking it back to the Guitar Center and exchanging it?

Sorry, should have been clearer. Contact Brian if you have any problems. The GC where you bought the amp should be able to take care of you!

So how does this warranty thing work again? I gathered 20% off the ticket plus the warranty? Or is this only for Black Friday?

I paid ticketed price plus the warranty today.

Anyhoo , great combo. I'll get the 112 extension one of these days and have me a mini rig of doom.

Just wondering, were you using the 1/4" jack in the center of the speakon? Mine cut out once when using the speakon with a speakon cable. Had a close look and realized the center pin of the jack was not making solid contact with the plug. A couple seconds of adjustment with a pair of small pliers fixed it. Worked perfectly since. The center pin of the speakon jack also contacts the 1/4" plug when used that way. Worth a look.
