Markbass Megathread PART 3

whoo! don't know why i waited so long, but i finally got my LMII.

paid $500 even "out the door" as the guy put it. 8.25% tax from $480 shoulda been 513 so, but i told him 500 even and he did it.

they discounted the LMII with the warranty included for me. so 600 rather than 525 + 75

SCORE!! Went to the Austin location this morning. I was the 5th one in the door and the first one out the door. I went straight to the counter and asked for the LMII. They had two left...neither was still in the box but oh well. Mine was $519 out the door. Had a $20 gift card to bring it down to $499 out-of-pocket.

I got in line outside at 7:30 with 4 people in front of me. By the time the doors opened at 8:00 there was well over 100 people out there. I went straight to the counter and there was no one there yet but by the time I finished the transaction there were at least 30 people behind me.

It worked out absolutely perfectly for me since last night someone purchased my SM-500 through buy-it-now on Ebay. I was hoping that would happen... nice!

BTW, they did take my 20% off postcard and scan it in the transaction. Did anyone buy anything 20% off without the transaction or was the card required?

***, GC in Englewood, CO refuses to deduct the $79.99 for the 24mth warranty on the LMII - $600 + 79.99. I explained the price should be $520 + the $79.99 24mth warranty + tax too many times, and left frustrated. Am i misunderstanding the pricing?

I bought the LMII for $600 - 20% discount + $79.99 + 4.35% tax = 584.35. I have to get this deal straight before i friggin blow a gasket.

Any advise guys. It would be greatly appreciated.

Should have been about $725 with tax ($845 list). Why didn't you call them on that?

Edit: I wonder if they are not discounting the warranty... i.e., discounting the non warranty price, then adding back in the warranty. It wouldn't come out exactly to your $839, but that would at least somewhat explain the pricing.

This was a friend who works at GC ringing it up and it was very busy so I didn't belabor the transaction.

He was saying the pricing was done without the warranty and that I could buy it without the warranty. It would be $839 with the warranty. Didn't make sense but oh well.

Should be $599 total including the warranty. Deduct 20% from that.

I got to my GC in Concord, CA at around 7:40, with maybe 15 people already there. Doors opened at 7:50, and I got right to getting my LMII.

They didn't really care too much about bringing the card. Well actually, some employees thought it was necessary, and I heard probably 10 people say they left it at home. But the manager was cool and just said to give 'em the discount.

did you buy it? man, it retails at $599 + tax.

yes, I bought it a week ago with the intention to return today to get the price corrected and receive the 20% off dealio. It was the only LMII within 60miles that wasnt a floor model or a return.

Not quite. The regular price is 599.99 including the warranty, which is really 520 for the head and 79.99 for the warranty in their system.

The sale price should be:

416.00 (520 * .8)
+ 79.99
+ any applicable tax on 416
+ any applicable shipping

The warranty is non-discountable and non-taxable, and SHOULD be non-removable!!!

Jeez, when will GC get their head out of their arses and inform their staff!?!?!?

Depends on the GC I suppose. The manager at my local GC sold an F1 to my friend at 20% off $850 = $680. How cool was that? He shot, he scored!
Yes that included the non removeable Performance Warranty.

<thread derail on>
Since I already own an LMII and love it, I bought an X2 wireless. 20% off $300 = $240! :hyper: Smokin' deal on an X2.
<thread derail off>

We now return you to the Markbass megathread of much joy.

wait.. when i first read your post i agreed, but it doesnt really make sense to me now that i'm reading it again (the 2nd to last sentence mainly). lol edited

i suppose that that should be the case, but it seems that every GC has their own procedure. But what my sale turned out to be was apply 20% off of 599.99 (warranty included), bringing the subtotal to approx. 480, then factoring in tax and any other fees. My total came to 513? so but i talked it to an even 500.

and a general question about the warranty: GC gives 30 days to return items, but add another 30 days for MB products? and is the warranty for 2 years or is the extra 30 days the warranty?

Warranty is 2 years. Since it's a GC warranty (and not a manufacturer's warranty), you get the 60 day 'no questions asked' return, due to purchasing the GC warranty.

Having this 'required' GC warranty has caused some confusion with GC. My guess is, as I posted before, Vic's post is correct... that the 20% should be deducted 'prior' to the required warranty. However, I have a feeling that it will vary depending on the experience of the particular salesperson. So, those that got the 20% off the total price REALLY got a good deal. Nice!!!

Yes, today I purchased the last Traveller 121H in the ENTIRE COUNTRY and they took 20% off the price before warranty then added that back on. It is being drop-shipped from one of their Maryland stores directly to my house, so they added $10 towards shipping on. I think they probably had to do it like that since to qualify for the sale it was supposed to be an item IN STORE. I don't know, like has been said, it seems like when it comes to the Markbass stuff the GC folks don't really have it all figured out yet.
