Markbass Studio Pre

Peter, if there is any chance you could post some recordings of the various distortions, I'm sure we would all be grateful!

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how would I do that?

Making the recordings is easy... but how to post them?

I might like to have a lot of fun with it too. YOu mentioned the States but when will they be in Canada, particularly out west at R&R? We've normally had MarkBass much earlier than the States, but are we on the same distribution schedule now? Has R&R ordered one, or should I ask them to ... or is that jumping the gun?

The Studio Pre is very new, and I think R&R won't know much if anything about it.
To be safe, I would say that it should be available in North America by the end of the year, likely late fall.
Feel free to check in with me again in September or October.

First you would convert them to a commonly-used format like MP3. Then you would have your website manager upload the MP3 files to a folder on the server that hosts your site. The web person would then tell you the "address" of each recording, which you would then post here. So for example, here is an audio file on one of my sites:

If your management doesn't want you messing around in their website files, you can post clips (in video form) to Youtube. Also there are free filesharing sites like Soundclick.

They just released the Studio Pre in an integrated head format, with the same class A/B amp as the LMII, SA450, etc. It would be overkill for me, but pretty cool for those who do a lot of studio work and gigging, and need a bunch of different tones, etc.

I would like to see a 1000 watt amp @ 4 ohms at 6-8 pounds... that could cover any gig and be light enough to used by anyone..

No plans for a power amp just yet, but we're hearing some requests like yours, so you never know...

The Classic 300 will be available in the US in the fall, but will not be carried in all GC stores so you may have to order it.

You'll have to PM me for the price, I can't list them here.

Markbass SD800... 750 watts into 4ohm, under 8 pounds.. about $1,200 US

AI Focus III.... 800 watts into 4ohms, around 5 pounds.. about $1,200 US

Puma1000.... 500x2 or 1000 watts bridged into 8 ohms, under 8 pounds... about $1,800 US

Walter Woods Ultra.... 1200 watts into 4ohms (but doesn't really sound like that many watts).. about $2,400 US

:D

IS this PRE finally available, I run a pre + power amp setup and would like to hear how this sounds compared to some of the other pre's I have...

Both the Studio Pre (preamp) and the Studio Pre 500 (head) are available. I have been trying out the Studio Pre 500, and I really love it. This is a great head (or pre) for anyone who wants to use a little or a lot of overdrive, and it gives a lot of different overdriven tones plus some great tools for blending the clean and overdriven signals.
