Markbass Super Synth

Could we hope a serious challenger against the Deep Impact?
The DI doesn't worth its price IMO, only a few presets are usable and tracking is so-so.
If Markbass releases a Synth pedal with a good tracking and more usable sounds than the DI, I think they will sell a lot of pedals!

So it's a little bit lower than the price of the DI.

Plus it is a new unit.

Plus the technical support.

Plus the reliability.

Plus (I hope) a better tracking.

Plus (I hope) more usable sounds.

But you're right, I'd rather to wait & ear it myself than trying to be a seer!

What is the funny squiggly line in from of the "299"?

Plus that pic is only a three knobber....

its not going to replace the deep impact. i'd expect a lot more modern (korg g5 ish, maybe) synth sounds from the markbass pedal than the 80s synth bass sounds that the DI has. if those are the sounds you want, a deep impact is the only thing that sounds like a deep impact ;)

but then again it hasent come out yet, so i could be completely wrong.

Could you please quote for me a single synth pedal that tracks better than the DI? I can't think of one.

One? Sure: Korg G5 Bass Synth.
Hey you only asked about the tracking!

The G5 tracks well. And it does fuzzy hip-hop bass better than anything else I've found.

But the DI gets slagged for it's tracking a lot and really I don't see why. It doesn't track flawlessly, but it's miles from say, the SYB-5.

Here's some fairly fast playing with strings skipping and it tracks pretty well to me:

I don't think the G5 is tracking your playing, it's just modifying the input signal and spitting it out again. That's why it sounds kinda woolly and cheap.

Not that the DI doesn't sound cheap, but it's more a tacky-and-cheap from the DI. Like an orchestra hit patch or MIDI trumpet.

I agree totally re the G5, I'm completely off it at the moment due to the wooliness. Woolly is the perfect way to describe it.

I think the tracking on the G5, DI and OS (and BSW and BMS, for that matter) is fine. Honestly, we're converting a signal from a bass - it's never going to be absolutely perfect. People need to accept that and move on. All the units described above track adequately and are used everywhere from the studio to the stadium (to the bedroom).

AFAIK DI also has a mix level, so you can mix the processed signal with the original signal, as the G5 does :ninja:

I must confess I didn't like the DI. I think I was expecting a lot more from this pedal and I was just disppointed because I agree it is finally not better or worse than the others (OS or G5), it was just not providing what I was looking for :hmm:

When I bought a DI, I was not mainly looking for 80's synth sounds. I was only looking for a synth pedal which would track better & have more usable sounds than the other synth pedals.

I'm reading the Invalid Link Removed and I still think that even if it sounds not as 80's as the DI does, but if tracking is better and if it has more usable tones inside and if it is not pricey as the DI is, it would be a real alternative to the DI.

I red on TB some people would be very pleased if someone had the good idea to release a "DI clone". It seems MarkBass had it... but I'm still waiting for soundclips
