Markbassd 104HF with 1500W Crown power amp

Hi
I have a Markbass 104HF speaker rated 800w RMS.I have chance of buying a 1500 w Crown power amp,would this be kicking out to much power, even on lower volumes?

If it's a Crown Drivecore XLS1500 it can run either in bridged mono or individual stereo mode.

If the cab is 8 ohm, the XLS will provide 300W when using a single channel (stereo mode) and 1050W when bridged.

If it's a 4 ohm, the XLS will give 525W in stereo and 1550W in bridged.

It's okay to use an amp that is "overpowered" compared to your cab as long as you listen out for distress from the drivers (distortion, etc). They will usually start to give indications that you are pushing them too much quite a bit before they reach their thermal limit (which is what I suspect the 800W RMS rating is).

Just run it using one channel when you don't need much volume (the cab can almost certainly handle it), bridge it when you do.

I use the Crown XLS1500 bridged into an ampeg 210 that is rated for 400watts, have had no problems yet, runs loud, sounds good. just keep an ear on what your speakers are doing and you shouldn't have any issues
