MarloweDK's YouTube account Bye! Bye!

I think it was something to do with this site -

http://www.thru-you.com/#/videos/3/

this guy has mixed lots of youtube musicians to create original tracks.
awesome idea and quality tracks.

the thruyou site has been hugely popular over the last few days...and you can follow the links to the artists featured.
He used MarlowDK's basslines in this one - (first shows up at 1:10)

so I suspect that he's been flagged for removal because of the publicity 'thuyou' has generated.
Hi Guys and thx for your support
But i was banned, for copyright infringement of some Time Warner owned songs, not the great youtube remix.
Well, i guess ill just have to reinvent my self and think positive, after all playbassnow.now is alive and kickin and im moving my orinal videos to another host so they are safe.
Regarding my playalongs (have them all on my harddisk in their original Quicktime format) i need a videohost less rigid in terms of copyright and they are almost impossible to find.
But if any of you have a suggestion of where to put them, i would be most interested
Thx again

Anyone heard of MunkyBarz on youtube? I noticed his account was suspended too, and he has playalongs...

I spoke to Marlowe on Skype earlier (he asked me if I had a minute - I ended up in a voice chat for 50 minutes!), and the reason his account was suspended was for violating copyright 3 times - Once was a few years ago when he used his youtube account for hosting live clips, the second was for a music clip that I think he played in from the 80s, and the third was a Joan Osbourne playalong - youtube then outright suspended his account.

All of his licks are on his website - Currently a few will be unavailable while they're being moved, but I'd highly suggest anyone who enjoyed his youtube channel take a browse - even if you don't learn from the licks, just listening to them for ideas & inspiration helps me a LOT :) He's looking into where else his playalongs could be hosted, anyone with any suggestions if you could PM me? We've looked at Revver.com, Blip.tv, Vimeo.com...

However, he said this has prompted him to get off his backside & start doing things again, he was getting lazy... So good, in a way :P

Anyone who wishes to support Marlowe, just register at his site, watch the videos & check back once in a while. It's all free, all his own work & is a must in any bass players web resource collection :)

Edit: Bah, didn't notice Marlowe had posted!

Thats total madness. What do they think we're going to do- digitally remove the bass line and add it to our record collections? :spit: If anything you are showcasing the talents of the original artists and fostering an appreciation of their music. Seriously did they stop and think about that for more than 25 seconds??!

Imagine if you could get one of the original artists to protest on your behalf.

Good luck with it man. Start up a new account there and play lines without the backing track.

Shortsightedness and greed are the reasons the music industry lost their grip years ago, some things never change.

+1000 - I personally have PURCHASED at least 10 CDs based upon tracks I heard for the first time on Marlowe's videos. Given how much music is NOT bought these days, music companies should be sending HIM royalty cheques! :)

Marlowe, if you are following this thread still, I appreciate all the music you have exposed me to :)

The music biz is really preparing its own grave! Those playalongs make people find out about a song, and may even cause them to buy the original record! Without Marlowe and other's vids, I wouldn't even know about a lot of good stuff! It's nearly impossible to find music if you don't even know that it does exist... Youtube is my main way of finding music, and I will buy less records if I don't find out about them. Anyways, playalongs does only make the rec-biz MAKE money. People don't use playalongs for straight listening to music, and is likely to buy the songs after watching a vid. The biz just lost the little respect I had left for them, when trying to stop me and others to actually find the music we like.

MarloweDK's one of the reasons I started playing bass in the first place. I saw his playalong to POW! and was like "I have to learn how to do that".

If you're not making money off it, I don't see how it infringes copyrights. It's perfectly legal to play covers right? To the average person, covers are more dangerous than Marlowe's playalongs. Marlowe CLEARLY announced the original title and artist of the songs he was playing along with. When you see a cover band, you might mistake a cover for an original. Perhaps the record industry needs to waste their time stalking the local bars and leave youtube alone.

Well. Screw Youtube then. When he finds a new place to host his videos I'll start going there instead.

It sucks bigtime.. One of the coolest bassplayers on youtube and IMO a great source of inspiration.. I cant really see how the copyright should cover "inspiring others with great interpretations of great songs".. I know some of his videos inspired me to go out and buy some of the old records he jams along to..
A great loss..

Same here! If the issue is $$ then the industry should be thanking people like Marlowe.. I also bought a few CD's after watching his videos... Go figure...:scowl:

I might be the only one to say this, but I'm happy the guy got pulled from youtube. I'm tired of seeing 'playalongs' from him and a bunch of other people on that site. Granted he had a few things that weren't playalongs, IMO he still sucked. I don't see what the big deal is?

I'm tired of trying to browse youtube to find actual videos of music and pro musicians only to search a bunch of playalong videos in relation to what I'm searching for. And more than 80% of playalongs sucked anyways.

Yeah, I said it.

R-O-F-L!!!!!

I really want to see who you consider being a great player and on a equal or higher level than Marlowe D.

As a matter for fact I'd love to see a video of you.

it's usually the people that can't play or are so upset at themselves and their skill or what they see as a lack of skill that seem they need to bash another player.. . With that being said I'm not saying it's you, but I honestly would be surprised if you didn't fit that niche.

With that being said if you want to find a specific person on youtube type in their name and you'll get plenty of posts. It's really not that hard....
