Been playing since 79. NEVER owned more than 3 basses until I joined up here 3 years ago. Since then, the herd went from 3up to 9 and right now its at 7. I bought/traded for 10 and sold/traded away 6 in just 3 years.
As far as the bass I've owned the longest- that would be my 1992 Carvin LB-75. The first of only 3 5ers I've owned. I ordered it from Carvin and I've had it ever since. I just hit the 18 year mark with it back in November. I had thebass up for sale/trade a few years back and I just couldnt pull the trigger. It looks like that one's staying for the long haul!

The longest instrument I've owned was not a bass.
I was a 1961-Fender Strat. (100% original)
I do not play guitar.
I bought it off my guitar playing brother in 1980 for $400.00.
He was hard up for cash.
I put it in my closet for 27 years and sold it in 2007 at a Guitar show to a collector.

For basses It was a 1966-P-Bass I played it for 11 years before trading it.

I hope I can get there. I've had my '93 Jackson Concert V for 4 years. I had been offered some great deals for the bass but I never thought of selling. Is it an extremely great, high-end, indispensible bass? No. But this is the one that really made me fall in love with bass and this is the one that welcomed me and cheered me up at home after a very ****** day. So I've decided to keep him forever! :smug:

I have a 1973 precision sunburst,a 1972 off wite jazz bass,a 1991 white LB 70,and a 1964 beattle bass deluxe(blond)Had a 1980 gl 1000 gold top,but sold it for 675 dollars.The bass i use more is a 2002 warwick thumb 5 BO.

I've had my 1983 '57RI P-bass since 1983. Rented it to some guy named Kanye for most of last year. The rental made me about 20 times what I paid for it originally. Everyone who's ever played that bass has offered to buy it. My "day gig" for the last 30 years has been as a recording engineer/producer, so a LOT of people have recorded with my bass, and it's not going anywhere!

My parents bought me a used 64 Fender jazz as a high school grad. present in 72.
It was stolen once and laid in the back of a open bed pick-up truck for weeks.
The guy was arrested and the police returned the bass to me.
I sold it once and then bought it back.
I've a love/hate relationship with that bass...but it's home to stay.

I bought my '62 Fender JBass form my borther in '65 for $75.00 and a cheap Cortez short scale. Haven't had or wanted another bass since. After all, when you have the best, why look at the rest? :D
