Marshall Regenerator

OK, I did a search, but it only came up with 4 threads.

I am awaiting the arrival of a phaser, and I was thinking about getting a flanger, but then suddenly, I had one of those horrible moments of doubt, when you don't know what you really want. Do I want a chorus? Or a flanger? (Can't afford both).

Then suddenly, I remembered the Marshall Regenerator, which has two types of chorus, a flanger, 2 phasers and a univibe setting. Has anyone tried it? I can try one this week (maybe tomorrow), with an Epiphone Thunderbird (one of my two main axes - unfortunately they don't have a red one like mine, so I don't know how that will affect the sound...), but was wondering if anyone had any experience before I waste my lunch hour.

Also, I was reading the Boss pedal catalogue, and it claims that the BF-3 flanger can do chorus sounds as well. Does anyone know how true this is? And whether it sounds nice?

I don't really care for modern Boss pedals.

On the other hand I tried the Regenerator and I found it very lively-sounding (especially on vintage settings) and usable.

Well. I got a phaser cos there was a cool one on eBay, going cheap.

I originally was going to get a phaser and a flanger. But then my old chorus pedal popped up, and left me gassing. But considering how much I will use the chorus, it seems silly to get a seperate chorus and flanger.

The Fulltone Choralflange does both, but like any other Fulltone it's pricey.

Flanger and chorus use essentially the same circuit, just at different settings, so they are often combined on one pedal. Phaser is the "odd man out", using a different circuit.

Most people complain that the flanger on a chorus + flanger pedal (ie the choralflange) isn't flangey enough (am I allowed to say flangey?).

I think you can get away with flangey. I will try it and let you know, as obviously not many people have played with this one. Expect some sort of botched review at some point this week. Possibly tomorrow.

I didn't care for the Marshall Regen. I use the Boss BF-2 and the Line 6 Liqua Flange, and I plan on getting a Subdecay Quasar for my phasing needs. I use a Boss PH-3 currently, though.

i bought a regenerator for my guitar so i will be interested to see how it sounds on my bass
