I'm in! been a big fan of Federico Malaman for many years, been checking out the Mayones booth at the last few NAMMs and finally pulled the trigger in Jan on this 2018 Mayones Jabba Mala 5, my pictures don't do it justice but has been my main bass since purchase! Also bought some IQS strings while at NAMM (Federico has a signature line), very nice remind me of the Infeld IN345 I played before.

I've been waiting for this one in a 4 string. The are making 4 string Hadrien Feraud Jabbas now so there is hope. I'm just no fan of single coils. Digging this bass though, soapbars rule.

I didn't like the standard chrome knobs so i switched them out for the aluminum black knobs. Looks better or not?

I wouldn't worry about a pick guard unless you are hitting wood with your pick. I cheat and use the pickup cover as a pick guard. That also trains me not to get too deep when picking.

Well... The lacquer on the Patriot (despite making the bass showing great, of course) makes mini scratches apparent even if you breath, unlike your great matte Slogan. Does yours have an oil finish?

You probably like the Setius because it is "Gothic" like your Slogan. ;)

I do believe the finish is Oil. It's pretty tough but I am careful whilst using a pick.

I want a Mayones six-string guitar so bad. I would definitely choose another gothic.

I used my Mayones for my last 3 auditions and nailed all 3. People just love the tone of these basses.

Amazing instruments but unfortunately they are not priced like Squiers in order to build a collection. You have to make few, selected and well thought out purchases...

Does anyone in here happen to have a jabba classic? Ive been looking around and it would appear these basses come standard with 24 frets. Is that right? Also is the space between the front pickup and bottom of the fretboard ample room if you've got an aggressive slap style? Im used to jazz basses having a little more room in that area and hesitant about buying one unplayed based on sound alone.

Yes the Classics have 24 frets. They seem as easy to slap as any other Jazz style bass.

I owned a 5 string Classic. Yes it's tighter for Double Thumbing. I was able to do it but I recommend you get your hands on one and try it out.

I've recently become interested in a Mayones Viking I stumbled on at a local shop. I'd been saving for a used Wal but I've found myself smitten with the Viking. Wondering What your experiences have been with your "Humbucker Based" Mayones.... like any bass in the Viking/Patriot/Comodous/Prestige families? They all seem mostly the same except for body shape. Would you talk me into getting the Viking? Would you warn me against it?

I'm wondering what you've though of your Mayones after you've had it for a while and the honeymoon period has passed. Are you still happy about your commitment? Did you break up? I want dirt! How has it treated you for studio recording? A live mix?

Welcome! I just got home from a gig with my Mayones Slogan 5. I am blown away by this bass. I have LaBella LTF flats on it and it sounds so sweet. I have had this bass longer than any other bass and I plan to keep it forever.
I would say a Wal is on another level though. Even though I have not owned one, I trust they are worth the cost.
