I actually got mine yesterday! Yay!!!
I had contacted Mayones directly in early March and they told me they had one in their current production batch that wasn't earmarked yet. I managed to get that one via BassDirect in the UK, which worked out very well.
It's a fantastic instrument!

Glad to hear you got yours....

I just found out today that my bass arrived at the dealer late last week and should be shipped out to me today or tomorrow. I should have it in my hands sometime next week. With all of the crap that's going on, it feels good to finally have something to look forward to.

I will admit, I have played passive basses most of my life, so my experience with pre-amps is limited. That being said, I haven't experienced any output issues with the Mayones. It has taken me a while to dial in a sound because there are more knobs then I'm used to :), but I find the output of the bass in the pre-amp mode to be more than adequate.

Another question - are the Patriot and Comodous basically the same bass with different shapes? And the Viking the same as those but with. Bartolini instead of Aguilar?

Would I be correct in thinking they make several basses with swamp ash bodies and soap bar pickups, and from there I need to choose the shape and look I like best?

I know that the Viking has a bigger body.

The Comodous has a 9 ply Maple/Mahogony neck with Rosewood Board.

The Patriot is a 5 ply Wenge/Purple Heartneck with Rosewood board.

Same electronics for both(Aguilar) Hardware was Schaller Extremely light tuners but I see some now with Hipshots. The Hipshots are slightly heavier but not enough to worry about.

On to the Viking:
5-ply / Wenge-Maple neck. Slightly larger body. Body Is Profile swamp ash with Wenge Middle and Select Ash Top.

I have a Slogan MBC5 Gothic which is a Custom Shop bass. It's got the Aguilar electronics package and I absolutely love this bass.

I'm not sure how I'd choose. The Patriot/Slogan/Comodous all look similar (in a good way - they're all great). The Jabba is less visually stunning but also sounds great on recordings I've found. FunkHead, how did you decide on the Slogan? Do you have any recordings of it? I don't see weights on the website - maybe if I can figure out which one is lightest I'd just go with that one.

I saw this gorgeous Patriot on Reverb Patriot Custom 4 MBC 2019 • Mayones Guitars & Basses but it's a 4 string, and if I end up settling for a 34" or 34.25" bass, I'd want a low B on it (I'm otherwise thinking I'd want a 33" 4 string). I don't know if you can still custom order that in 5 string since it's labeled 2019.

Weight was part of my decision. Zjohn Knew I wanted under 9LB. My Gothic Slogan has Ebony fret-board and the Black-out treatment. Even the Nut is Ebony. I knew I had to have it when I saw it.

Aside from that, It really plays and sounds amazing. You can get any sounds you want from the OBD3. It's super versatile. I have some EB Slinky Flats and it's such a great combo. You can even slap successfully with these strings.
