Mayones owners club.

The more I play my Comodous vs other basses the more I realize what an amazing instrument it is. I only have this one example but I'm assuming most if not all play this well.

This 6 string neck is more comfortable than any of my 4 and 5's.
I feel the same about my Mayones Slogan MBC5 Gothic. I often play high up on the B string and it's very clear and even in tone and volume. To be Fair my Ric 4003s/5 is also very usable up there too. But Mayo's are in a whole other league.

I joined last year - no number :help:

Few weeks back, a beautiful fretless Slogan 5 (piezo) was snatched away from me - saw it 1 day too late in the small adds in Germany :(

Ouch....sorry to hear, that must have been gorgeous. If I was ever able to get my fretless skills improved I'd be seriously thinking about one of these Patriot 5's.

I have a question to the Mayones club: I posted my custom BE earlier. It is Ovangkol/Amazakoué and has a dark/black colouring /staining (mind me posting the pics again ... )
Now I really like natural wood and all my Warwicks are oiled/waxed.
Would it be a crime to strip the bass from the black colouring and sand the wood ??

Hi from Germany.
I hope that’s ok because my basses model name are „Baphomet“ and are produced by Mayones for the german brand „Fame“, a house brand for a large music retailer here in Germany.
Anyway you might recognize the shape of the basses.
First up is a neckthrough all-maple body fretted bass, rosewood fretboard, active electronics (2-band) and EMG 35DC.
The neck DC has been replaced with a TW and the 2-band electronics with a EMG BTC.
Color is Transparent Plum, in the back.

Second is virtually the same but with an ebony fretboard, gold hardware (stock was black), EMG 35JA and 35JA-R (reversed single coil / stock was also DCs). Also has the BTC installed. Black transparent.

Both were sold as limited editions and for a price around mid-price segment (around 1,000 Euros (currently 1,150$), so far less than from the Mayones workshop.
Nevertheless both are great and quality is top. Those maple bodies have a great growl. Electronics great, although the 2-band preamp is a little bit bland which is why I swapped them for EMG BTCs

Interesting idea. I'm not a fan of high gloss finishes so I once had a bass wet sanded by a professional to take the gloss down to an even satin finish. Apparently it was a simple process and you couldn't tell it wasn't from the factory.

I guess I would have two questions for you:

1) do you ever intend to sell the bass? potential of refinishing to impact it's value
2) would you do the work yourself, or by a professional? Not to say you can't do it but maybe it would help to hold the value if done by a luthier.

By the way, I've made several trips to Brussels over the years for business. It is an absolutely beautiful city....but I'm sure you know that :D

Just got her! Initial Impressions here (including video):

NBD w Initial Impressions Video - MAYONES JABBA HADRIEN FERAUD

Dayum - that is really nice!! I have the PJ Jabba HF and really dig it, but yours is still on my list as well.

You mentioned the loose truss rod - maybe it is because it is a double action truss rod, which feels "loose" in its neutral position!? Not an expert, but that could be an explanation, I think...

Sweet with that hard shell case - I think if you buy directly from Mayones it comes "only" with a semi-hard gig bag!

Congrats!

It’s nice to see some really familiar names in here from some of my other frequently visited owner club threads

Well, I’m waiting on my entry to show up so I can fully join in here. I’m super excited since it has an Aguilar OBP-3 with DCBs and the killer feature is it has the Piezo bridge! Hopefully it’ll be here by Friday, for a fantastic News Year’s eve.

Here are some pics in anticipation of its arrival.

Beautiful! Any idea what those strings are?

The seller posted that they are SIT silencer light gauge strings. I’ve never played them before but I generally play light strings (.40-120). I’ll do a review once I get it, it has all of the right elements that I typically look for… from the electronics to the woods used so I’m really looking forward to this one.
